Parking The following are points made during the discussion meeting 1. Parking can't be viewed in isolation. It's connected to land-use, congestion, mass transit, values by 2. Las Olas Association has a plan for providing 4500 additional parking spaces west of the tunnel and in the Court House Parking Garage south of the New River for use during art shows (when the Boulevard is closed). Everyone is an expert about parking. a) A manager of an office building has an assistant who spends 15 hours each week on parking issues Some typical comments: "Someone is in my space." "Someone scratched my car." "I don't want to drive to the roof. I've been here 3 years and I want a parking space on the ground floor." b) Robotic Parking There are three types of parking: Self-park Valet park Robot parking What is the experience with robot parking? How long does it take to park a car and take an elevator? How long does it take to go up an elevator to get a car and then drive it out? How many cars can the robotic parking handle in one hour? If 50 people want to leave at 11 pm, how long does the last person need to wait? Or is the robotic parking better for a flow of requests? SUMMARY This meeting was the first public forum where the proposed parking plan fo rthe Las Olas Art shows was first described. The meeting closed at 8:30 pm THE TOPIC FOR THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE "The Death of Ideology" on August 30. |
