A Chronicle of DG's Toil
or
DG's First Ever Science Olympiad Competition

*evil grin* That got your attention yet? Hehehe... toil, yes, toil. How sad. Here was my day:

I had to wake up at six AM, the normal time I get up for school, because we had to be there by seven. T___T Whatever happened to DG's sleep-in time? And she didn't get to watch YGO in the morning... anyway. I wore my Flamel necklace for good luck, just as I did for my AP Chem test last year, and my Calculus finals this year and such...

We went there and ended up in a long line of cars to get to the school, and I insisted on staying in the car because, knowing me, I'd end up getting hopelessly lost. Then I saw Carolyn and decided, "Hey, might as well get lost together!" So I chased her down and we... wandered. Yeah. XD

While there, we saw the home base of my middle school~ I was considering asking them where our school was, since they're very close to each other anyway, but we passed them by because I don't know anyone there anymore. T-T I don't even know many of the freshmen... anyway. We eventually found it, and I ate... because I had to skip breakfast to get there in time. Bah.

Anyway... after a while, we went to go and find our event rooms. I may also add here that it was FREAKIN' FREEZING. X_x;; DG is cold-intolerant. It was... maybe below fifty. Gaaaah. It's not S'PPOSED to be like this in Southern California! My hands were numb! But we got to go back after a while... and then I found out we had hot cider. I love my Bio teacher. LOVE. Really. And she cooks for us, too. *_* Never mind the fact that the first pitcher I tried was screwy and spilled not-quite-boiling water all over my hands...

Pre-first event: We were wondering what those slits in the sides of the lab coats were for, and my partner said they were so you could reach into your pockets. I tried it and found my shirt was in the way; it's a size Small, but it's waaay too big. I told him that, and he said it's because I'm short, so I kinda... flipped out on him. XD And one of the random passerbys who was also an Olympian told him that wasn't nice and to shut up because I might hit him (since I was being kinda... loud... and... erm... vehement)... which I have, multiple times, and I told him so. He AGREED with me. Finally, someone who'll help me against the Evil Tall Person! *snicker*

First event: Chem Lab. Ahaha, the lab was so easy it was pathetic. Here you have water, here you have iso-propanol (or whatever you call it... -_-;;), and here you have a Random Plastic Thing. Now, is the Plastic Thing less or more dense than the water, less or more dense than the iso-propanol, or between them? I dunno... maybe you DROP IT IN BOTH AND SEE. So... that wasn't too bad, but the test was EVIL. Not as bad as my AP Chem teacher's tests last year, though, and at least I had a partner... we had to guess on maybe ten of the answers, though. Ran out of time. *sweatdrops*

Then my next event was Physics Lab, basically on the other side of the building. Unfortunately, I had to run back to base, grab my calculator, and run back, borrowing a pencil from someone on the way. I barely got there in time, and it wasn't so bad... quote: "Wow! Alegria's good for something for once!" "Alegria" being my AP Physics teacher whose recent decline in popularity may have something to do with everyone failing the final, and his dropping their lowest test grades (not the final) making them go down a few percent...

Uh, anyway. Next event: Compute This, which was very near Chem Lab. In other words... RUN ACROSS CAMPUS TO GET PAPER/PENCIL AND RUN BACK! I made it in time this time, and I discovered a few very important things:

One: That particular school has very old, sucky computers.
Two: That particular school has a dial-up connection for said sucky computers.
Three: The spiffy chairs from my first two events weren't in use in the whole school. T____T
Four: I think the guy who wrote the questions also supervised the event, because he snapped at us when we asked if he made a mistake. Rawr.

So... that particular event was SO SCREWED UP. He just outright told us not to do question three; we didn't even ask. Question two we couldn't do because the site went down. They later claimed it was a storm in Alaska... haha, yeah right. When we told him, he gave us a long lecture about how they couldn't control the NOAA site, so it wasn't their fault and it was our problem. And... well, here are questions four and five, basically:

4. i. Find the average monthly temperatures for the years 1971-2000 for all states except Alaska and Hawaii.
ii. Find the average monthly precipitation for Alaska for the years 1971-2000.
iii. Find the average monthly precipitation for Hawaii for the years 1971-2000.

5. i. Find the average monthly preciptation for the years 1971-2000 for all states except Alaska and Hawaii.
ii. Find the average monthly precipitation for Alaska for the years 1971-2000.
iii. Find the average monthly precipitation for Hawaii for the years 1971-2000.

Naturally, we asked if question four was supposed to say "temperature" instead of "precipitation." He said no and yelled at us. We were supposed to graph it on the same graph, and my opinion then still stands now: WHEN THE HELL ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO GRAPH TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION ON THE SAME AXIS? THAT'S RIGHT, NEVER!

After that, I had the next four hours free, so I went back... and found that they'd already taken out my Game of Life. Without my permission. Which is where I was keeping my CD player. Geez people, ever heard of COURTESY? ASK before you play with people's stuff! Ahem... anyway. So we played that. I lost, but we had a good time. See, there's this one guy, the school dork... who thinks he's cool and acts like he is, but he's not and everyone knows it. For example (as SilvernFalcon just reminded me), in history once, the question was "Magellan was the first to _______ the world"; the answer was "circumscribe," but he put "circumsise." *sweatdrops* Sooo... he was playing too. This is his Life Story.

He gets married, but his wife commits suicide shortly afterward. She does not survive to the next turn. Then he has a baby boy... how that's possible, we don't know, but we're thinking male pregnancy here. THEN the baby boy starts driving the car. Then the guy playing runs into a wall and dies, leaving his baby to drive all by himself, which obviously leads to disaster. The baby dies. For the rest of the game, there is no one in his car.

*snickersnort* Ehehe... anyway. Someone pulled out a portable DVD player and began showing The Matrix Reloaded... hiding it from the teachers, obviously. I read a book... and then we got PIZZA! YAY PIZZA! There were supposed to be around sixty of us from our school, so we decimated ten pizzas easily. ._.;; Erm... yeah. Then I got involved in another Game of Life, which I also lost... miserably... because the banker wasn't playing, but was biased towards one of the players. In this particular game, there was me, another girl, and one boy playing. Obviously, we ganged up on the guy. This is HIS Life Story.

He starts off as a girl... wait, he protested, so we had to switch it to a guy. Then he got married... to a guy, because the other three (the two players + banker) are anime fangirls and kept yelling about shounen-ai. Then he got a son, but we gave him a daughter instead, who eventually had a gender change into a guy. Then we started arguing for a few minutes about what his son/daughter's "spouse" should be like, so we finally decided on a guy who was originally a girl.

Here I should mention my life story. The guy I married was Ed, and one of the other players insisted on marrying Roy. XD I kept telling her he's my brother, though... and there was a square with something about "visiting inlaws" that I landed on, where I mentioned Al and... whoever he'd be married to. Quote of both games? "HURRY UP AND GET A LIFE, DARNIT!"

Whoo. Then I read some more, took a picture of my friends... got absolutely no writing/homework done like I originally intended... then it was time for the awards ceremonies. Yay. Note the sarcasm.

The woman who was doing the awarding talked too much... seriously. We wanted to shoot her. Quoting Nicole, "HARPOON!" And then talking about how we should feel good, even if we didn't place very high, because there were sixty-some teams and blah blah blah... quoting me, "Snickersnort." Yes, I said that out loud. Erm... anyway, the first event they got to was Chem Lab. And this is where DG goes "NO! NOT THAT! NOT ONE OF MY EVENTS!" T___T *insert silent cursing here* We placed ninth... kinda disappointed, cause I like chemistry. Then a break for more talking/awarding, at which point I started wondering which I'd die from first, the suspense or the stress. Next was Compute This... WHICH WE GOT FOURTH PLACE IN, SOMEHOW, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SO MESSED UP! YAAAAAAY! I barely stopped myself from yelling "OH MY GOD!" at the top of my lungs, and promptly ran down the bleacher thing so I could get to the stairs...

Except see, having sixty people from our school in that section, it was kinda crowded, and I was in a hurry, and... it was kinda hard to get around without bumping into/kicking someone, which I unfortunately did. But this time... ehehe... my foot got caught in the coat of the man sitting at the end. Lesson of the day? "An object in motion stays in motion." In this case, a half-running DG + foot stuck = a DG that trips and almost falls on her face. Gah. @___@ As in, I ended up almost flat on the floor, and managed to not land on my face by having my hands out. I dunno how it happened... one moment, my foot was stuck and I was thinking that I might trip if I didn't get it out, and the next, I was somehow on the ground. No time lapse in between. Weird, very weird... anyway, I think I bruised my knee, but that's all, and it was still funny. VERY funny. *snickers* And we got a MEDAL for fourth place~ Anything under just gets ribbons.

Last event: tied for fifteenth in Physics. Wow, we barely ranked. ._.;; Still, considering we made a calculation error we didn't see until the last minute and didn't have time to change, not too bad. Besides, it's PHYSICS. I have an aversion to Physics because of my teacher. >>;;

We got first place in... I think, three events. And then we got THIRD OVERALL! =^-^= LOL, the freshmen ran down there to got the trophy! I was teasing them about being so excited, and they were like, "Well, we're freshmen! What do you expect?" Then we took a group picture, of everyone from the school who was involved... I was in the back with the trophy, so I don't think I got in many pictures. Sucks being short. T_T

That be my day. *nodnod* Though I think I lost my ninth-place ribbon... it was in the car before we went to get dinner, really it was! I dunno where it went... oh well. That's it! Ja ne!

2:43 PM PST Whoo, been a long while since I updated this. Anyway. Anyone wanna know what DG was up to during break? (It's a Word file, so you'll have to download it or just outright open it to read it)

July 31, 2005
5:03 PM PST

Whew! I still have two episodes to watch today... one of IY and one of s-CRY-ed, whatever it's about again. I completely forgot but the name sounded familiar, so I set my VCR to tape it. XD;;

So, what has been going on in my life...? Well, for one thing, my chibi-Ed plushie is now my constant companion while I'm at home. Kinda pathetic, now that I think about it... but in any case, I'm almost forgetting the reason why I'm actually updating this!

Haha. So, I'm behind on fic updates and all, but I finished the next chap. of In-Between yesterday and will post it when E-Fic's back up. FINALLY finished Blood-Red, and am currently taking a vote as to whether I should split it up into three parts, since it's more than 31,000 words long. Uh... joined the FMA TCG forums and that's my new favorite hangout, because it often leads to pure insanity and everyone's so cool there. =^-^= Aaand... Today! I plan to finish the Scar chapter of Scream and add a choice at the end, and maybe some MC when I'm done! Actually, that's what I was working on before I remembered that I was going to do this... So I'm slacking off again. *sweatdrops*

The real reason I'm here: Well, Falcon told me a few days ago that the newest FMA DVD just came out, so, since I didn't want to pay thirty dollars for it, I had to go and buy it during the week right after it came out, when it's on sale. I had to kinda beg my parents to take me to the mall, since I'm basically out of money ever since CC (ha! I still don't have paper money; I spent my twenty bucks on the DVD today), so we ended up at the mall and I got my DVD! While waiting in line, I got to talk to a few people and mentioned that I was at Comic-Con for all four days, which they hadn't been, so I was happy. ;p Hm... well, the DVD this time just TOTALLY ROCKS. The insert booklet has a really cute picture of Al in a trenchcoat and Roy resting his arm on Ed's head (with my pipsqueak freaking out, of course. ^^), along with Jean Havoc for the chibi this time and some really nice pictures of Black Hayate and Al's cat. Then there was another picture of chibi-Ed, and... well, okay, I'll stop talking about the insert booklet and get to the good part.

But first, I'll just say that the next box set (starter set two) is going to be released at the same time as the sixth DVD. *dodges tomatoes, or rather, pomatoes* I know you want to know why this is relevant, but I'll just say that I now know the cheapest place to buy them! Only problem will be convincing my parents to let me get it again, since I got yelled at for buying the first set for forty-five dollars anyway... o__o;; I'll just have to get to Suncoast early and get it for forty, then.

Ah, yes... the DVD. Well, other than the Easter Egg previews, which I loved, as usual, maybe even more so since they had Riza and plenty of gunshots this time, there were... SO MANY FREAKIN' COOL EXTRAS I COULDN'T WAIT TO GO HOME AND WATCH THEM!

By the way, the plastic adhesive thingies at top and bottom were stuck to the paper of the cover again. T__T I've become an expert at removing them without damaging the plastic, but I accidentally tore part of the cover while trying to unstick the adhesive from it! NOOOO!

Haha, yes, I'm randomly sticking things to avoid explaining why I liked it so much. Anyway! There were character profiles again, with one of Envy this time, yay! I looked at the art stuff, as usual, and watched the clean opening and endings, which have changed to Ready Steady Go and Tobira no Mukou e, even though episode thirteen still has the first openings and endings. Yay for episode thirteen, too! XD;; Then I skipped the next option (*coughs* I'll get to that) and went to the commercials; there was a L'Arc~en~Ciel commercial from Tofu Records and a Crimson Elixir commercial from Square Enix that made me go "SQUEE!" I wanna play that game so badly... ;___; It looks so cool in the later levels that I never reached.

Oh oh oh! And then... I went to the trailers section! *dodges bullets this time* O__O;; Hold up, I'm almost at the good part, no killing me now. I watched the Furuba trailer, the FMA DVD five trailer, and the beginning of the Gunslinger Girl trailer before realizing it's the same as the one on the third DVD... anyway. THEN I GOT TO THE GOOD STUFF: A READY STEADY GO L'ARC~EN~CIEL MUSIC VIDEO. Oh, the awesomeness! =^^= And they had anime-chibi versions of hyde, tetsu, ken, and yukihiro in it, too! Haha, soooo cute! *_*

After that, on to the longest extra, where I saved the best for last: A WHOLE, COMPLETE (dub, but who cares?) BONUS EPISODE OF SPIRAL. I've been wanting to see that series for so long, and it totally lived up to all my expectations! So cool... ^___^ *happy fangirl* Ayumu rocks. I already liked Eyes, and there's a really hot scene of him in the ending credits where he's dressed completely in black leather, but now I like Ayumu, too. Oh, wait, I think I'm making my chibi-Ed plushie jealous. He's sitting on my lap and watching as I type this, you see. O_o;;

I believe... that is it. Yes, this entire post was for me to gush about the coolness of it all, haha. I'll get back to writing now, okay? Oh yeah, and just for the record, I'm having problems with FOSFF and it won't let me update. I've already talked to the site owner and she says it's not the site, it's the provider... or something like that. She'll talk to him. Anyways, ja ne.

COMIC-CON TOMORROW~ I didn't get to go to Preview Night (parents wouldn't let me... >>;;), but I'm going to be cosplaying ED~!!!! Uh... yeah. Still need to figure out the shoes thing, but s'okay, cuz it's only for tomorrow if I can find Cynthia... especially since I have everything planned for every day but tomorrow.

S'all, folks. Just wanted to get that down. Boredom, nyah. I did so much today... and I feel like randomly postponing work on all other fics until I finish up Blood-Red. Hate me if you want; it's the plot bunny's fault.

I'm upset... *spoiler warning for FMA manga, highlight to read*

Nii-chan... *sulks* They're picking on my nii-chan! Lust stabbed him and left him to die with Jean! T____T Leave him alone! Don't hurt him! I was about to cry because she hurt him and just walked away and told him that they were gonna keep him alive but he knows too much now... T________T DON'T KILL HIM! DON'T KILL MY ANIKI!

So... yeah. *sigh* I think, now I really have it in my head that Roy's my big brother. It feels like it sometimes, and the way I act when he's in trouble... I dunno, I just love him a lot and look up to him. Not the way I love Ed, but just as my nii-chan. *sigh*

In other news, I was quite happy earlier today because the results of my AP tests came in, and I got promised rewards if I got fives - twenty dollars spending money for the Comic-Con for each one. I had two tests, one in Chemistry and one in Art History, and I got fives on both! Yay! *celebrates* So that means forty more dollars. =^^= And plus, since I got a five on the Art History test, I've pretty much secured a place on the Europe trip next summer, since my parents said I could go if I got a five. So yeah, I'm happy about that but still depressed about the manga thing... ;_;

That's it for now; just wanted to get the ups and downs of life recorded. Ja ne.

The whole Vic thing really does feel like a dream now... *sigh*

Anyway, I finally got around to calling Alex, and he said he was hoping I wouldn't call. XD;; But, yeah... I'm going to get blackmail pics of him! *dances* And I'll post them everywhere! *evil grin*

Whew... I did some work on my cosplay today, so basically, I just need to sew everything onto the coat and braid the wig and I'm DONE DONE DONE! *victory pose* And then I need to convince my dad to cash those fifty or so dollars in coins... *sweatdrops*

Anyway, I think that's all I wanted to say, besides the fact that I'm having entirely too much fun writing Blood-Red. It's kinda hard, though... the writing is fun, but getting some of the small details out of the way is tough. ^^;; I have Falcon to thank for helping me with those. Thankies! *glomp*

It's a record! Shortest post to date!

9:04 PM PST

OMG. I just talked with Vic Mignogna. And he said something back. *hyperventilates*

Don't ask. Oh, please, DON'T ASK. I'm too busy trying to digest the reality of it all, you know? And I'm not giving out his screenname; I got it from a friend of mine who wishes to remain anonymous. XD; Anyway, she IMed me and was like, "VIC'S ON!" And I almost freaked. He was away for a really long time, and I had to get to dinner, so I was kind of afraid of missing him... I did ask her to ask him if he's going to Comic-Con, though, if he came on while I'm away. Apparently not... well, he came on a little while ago, and I freaked for a few minutes and fretted about what to say. Falcon suggested "Hi! I'm DG, and I'm an obsessive Ed fangirl!" Oh, Ra, I know it's funny, but I was just like, "NO." Because... I really did want to ask, and I am a fan of his, and I would stalk him if he came to CC, but... nah, I'm not that stupid. XD I really would like it if he'd take me seriously. Anyway, I was talking to one of my real-life friends at the time, and this probably marks the first time he's ever seen me freak for any reason. So I was getting pretty nervous, and he told me to chill and just ask him... so I did, because I was worried that he might leave before I got the chance to talk to him. Yeah, I told Vic I love FMA and I'm a fan of his works (not only Ed, but Dark and Kougaiji! Dark and Kou! And Kurz Weber from FMP in the one episode I've seen in English, but I like Kurz, and also Tetsu from Peacemaker Kurogane... okay, I'm going crazy again, I really should stop). Anyway, friend #1 (remember her? Who gave me the sn?) said he hadn't replied to hers yet, but he answered back almost immediately and said thank you, but he's not going to CC. They're going to record more FMA episodes. Of course, I was somewhat disappointed because of Malon, who made me jealous almost to the point of tears when she recited how much fun she had stalking Vic at A-Kon... off-topic, but yeah, there really were tears in my eyes. S'okay with me, though, since I didn't really expect it in any case. ^^ I had to sign off a little after that... actually, my dad was yelling at me to get off already, but I needed to ask Vic first! *cough* I need to calm down or something... *sigh* Anyway, when I was typing goodbyes to friend #2 (the RL one), I realized I was trembling, and I told him so. He asked why, and I said it was because I don't normally go up to voice actors, introduce myself as a fan, and ask something. Even at last year's Comic-Con... I wanted to glomp Hiei and Kurama's voice actors, but my friends wouldn't do it with me, and when I went up, I was too shy to even say anything. *sigh* I'm just kinda like that around adults who I admire. I'm such an idiot sometimes.

Well, it took a few minutes for me to realize what he said in that one sentence, because I'm like that sometimes... Oki said something about there being a hurricane there, and I was like, "Oh. That's nice." Few minutes later... "SAY WHAT?" Heh. Yeah. Anyway... MORE FMA! YAY! Actually, I'd prefer that over him coming to CC any day... because seriously, there's always next year, but the fans will go rabid without their FMA. Me included. Don't mind the fact that I've seen the whole series. =^^=

All in all, today was pretty good. The Vic thing was obviously the best. Waah... I'm just so stoked over that. And I'm still cosplaying Ed, but there are sooo many things I have to figure out and fix first... and then I have to call Alex about his costume, get a ride for Thursday, figure out how to get Cynthia's shoes, braid the wig, cut out the pattern for the back of the jacket, etc.. I can do the pattern now or tomorrow; it really won't take long, but it'll be a problem positioning everything when it's time to sew... oh well. Man. I just had to get the Vic thing down right away. It already feels like a dream... *sigh* Crazy, crazy me. And I will probably never talk to him again, but that's just my way, haha. Yeah, like Falcon said, I'm DG and I'm an obsessive Ed fangirl. So sue me, I like my blond pipsqueak. Whatever... anyway, I think I'm out of stuff to talk about for once. I'll shut it now. Besides... maybe I should work on Blood-Red. Sounds like fun...

Wow... can't believe I'm actually doing this, or at least, getting started on it. Hey everyone. I'm pretty sure you know me, since you're here and all... and anyway, since I'm getting started on this part of my site, I decided I might as well add the first journal entry, too.

Whatever. I'm just kinda annoyed... we have construction going near our house, and apparently, one of the workers accidentally cut one of the phone lines, which means no Internet for me, since I have dial-up and all... and no cell phone, either, which means I'm basically cut off from the outside world until someone fixes that stupid line. Heh. Yeah, I'm doing this offline right now... I just figured, since I can't really do much online and I wanted to start my Ed shrine, I could actually get to working on Absolute Boredom. I think I've done quite a lot today; I'm kinda proud of myself...

Anyway. I have a couple chapters to upload when I get back online, and another one to work on... not that I'm really stressed over anything, except maybe the amount of studying I'm being forced to do here. I have the whoooole summer and I'm almost done with my three subjects of summer homework... *sigh* Then I have SATs in the fall, too. Fun.

I should really write or something, but I just kinda feel like doing this right now. Actually, I wanna work on Never Too Small, the Ed shrine, except... that requires me putting a picture together for the background, which I really don't feel like right now. I probably spent two hours scanning and making my first computer wallpaper today (of Ed, of course), plus the opening banner-thing for NTS, plus the random other scans I've been doing and a few pictures for the blackmail section... so yeah, kinda tired of pictures right now. I should get to working on the Roy chapter of Scream... I'm going to have fun with that, once I figure out how to get to the right part.

DG's FMA obsession for the day: I was watching episode eight (the last episode I have on DVD... I haven't yet gotten the chance to go out and buy the newest one, especially since I was grounded), and for the special, "funny" Japanese next-episode preview thing, I finally figured out that it's Scar and not Roy who's talking to the dog. Heh, took a while. Anyway, I wanted to check Sciezka's voice actor so I could put it in under that one Winry image song that's a duet with her, so I was looking at the credits for episode seven (yes, the one with Nina in it... a lot... such cute pictures...), and then I randomly wondered who Scar's voice actor was and decided that it might be Okiayu Ryuutaro, who also does Dark Mousy from DNAngel and Kunimitsu Tezuka from Prince of Tennis - basically, a voice I know from image songs alone, though I've seen one DNAngel episode in Japanese, but didn't know who he was then... and wow, my playlist is on random right now, and it just landed on Dark's image song. Well, getting off subject there. So anyway, I thought that it was him, and I looked it up (and figured out something very strange about the words in the credits... they're more blurry when they're still than when they're moving...), and I was actually RIGHT. I had NO IDEA. So I freaked out, not because I was right, but because I figured that, if I can tell the seiyuu when he's speaking in a language I don't know and I know his voice from songs only, I've been watching too much anime. Or I'm just obsessed, but everyone already knows that... mostly with Ed...

And on a random side note, Okiayu Ryuutaro does Scar in FMA and Dark in DNAngel. Dark's English voice actor is Vic Mignogna, who I want to stalk because he also does Ed... =^^= So yeah. Kinda obsessed on that point, plus I find it interesting for some odd reason.

Hm, this is getting long. I either talk too much or I have too much to say... either way, I should end this now. Ja ne, everyone.
