Christmas Tree Centerpiece

Make it complete with lights!
Materials

Thirty-three 3" baby-food jars with lids
String of 35-bulb light set
50" of 3" Christmas ribbon
Double-sided tape
5-1/2" x 9" finished board for base
Small package of silver roping tinsel
Tube of Liquid Nails Adhesive
Drill & bits

Instructions
Note: Because Liquid Nails Adhesive is used as glue, each row of jars must dry overnight before next row is added. Project will take a number of days to complete.
Prepare the jars. Wash and dry all jars and lids.
Drill the holes. Before drilling holes in lids for the bulbs to fit into, drill practice holes in a board to determine appropriate bit size.
Bulbs should fit snugly into holes.
Drill holes in the center of all 33 lids.
Place tinsel in all jars and replace lids.
Glue the jars. Line up 7 jars with caps up next to each other along a straight edge on a flat surface. Use Liquid Nails to glue jars together.
Tie string around the row of jars to hold them in place. Let dry over night.
Turn glued jars on side. Glue a row of six jars on top of the
Let dry overnight.
Continue to glue a row each day until the last jar becomes the top of the tree. Make the tree trunk in the same way.
Assemble the tree. Glue tree trunk to the finished board. Let dry overnight.
Glue large section of the tree onto the trunk. Let dry overnight.
To attach ribbon to tree, start at top of tree trunk and apply double-sided tape around tree, ending on the opposite side of tree trunk. Place the ribbon over tape.
Insert the lights. Starting at the top, insert a light in each hole. Set the completed tree in a location of your choice, plug it in, and light up your life!
Bath Beads

1/4 cup powdered milk
2 tbs. powdered sugar
2 tbs. borax powder(20 Mule Team)
1/4 cup rose water or orange water
2 tsp. vitamin E
10 drops essential oil

Combine the dried milk, sugar, and borax in a bowl, stirring until well mixed. Add the water, vitamin E, and fragrance. Stir until you have a thick dough.
Depending on the humidity in the air, you may need to cut the water amount back.
Try adding a little at a time until you get the thick dough. Roll dough into a ball, one teaspoon at a time with your hands.
Repeat until all of the dough has been used. Place the balls on a sheet of tin foil or waxed paper and let dry for twenty-four hours
Bath Oil

Sweet Almond Oil Essential oil or Fragrance
Mix 20 drops fragrance or essential oil per 1/2 cup of almond oil.

Foaming Vanilla Bath

1 cup oil (any vegetable oil)
1/2 c. liquid soap
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup honey (optional)

Blend the ingredients together. Shake well before using. Use 1/4 cup per bath
Floral Soaps

You will need: Unscented glycerin soap, 4 oz. bar
2 oz. heart soap molds, 2
yellow food coloring, 3 drops
lemon fragrance oil, 20 drops
assorted small silk or dried flowers and leaves, any you
like will work
miscellaneous items:
mixing spoon
small saucepan
stove
plastic wrap
small scissors
wirecutters

1. Melt the glycerin soap in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until liquefied. Remove from heat and stir in food coloring and fragrance oil until well blended. Spoon a thin layer of soap mixture into the heart molds.
2. Cut the stems from the flower blossoms and leaves, trimming the silks to smooth any ragged edges. Arrange a few blossoms with some greenery in each soap, removing the flower calyxes if necessary (the small plastic piece at the bottom of the flower that holds it together, I think). Pour the remaining soap mixture into the molds. Let set for
3 hours or until hard.
3. Remove the soaps from molds and wrap individually in plastic wrap.
Colorful Paper Bowls
For the mold, take a bowl and cover it with plastic wrap and petroleum jelly.
Apply three to five layers of paper by alternating newspaper and typing paper with wallpaper paste or mixture. To create a mixture, Chistalene combines four tablespoons of flour with one cup of cold water in a saucepan. Mix well and then add one cup hot water. Bring mixture to a boil, let cool to the touch, and your paste is ready to use. After use, let bowl dry.
Paint the bowl with artist gesso and sand lightly when dry.
Paint or top with tissue paper layers.
