Craft Recipe's Page #6
Scrunchie Snakes and lizards

What you will need:
material, 12" pipe cleaner, hot melt glue gun, eyes, foamie sheet, felt for legs (optional), 30" string

Directions:
1. Cut a piece of material 27" x 3" for the snake or 27" x 4" for the lizard.
2. Cut out the mouth from a sheet of foamie and 4 legs from a piece of felt if you are making the lizard, using the patterns.
3. Put a knot at the end of one end of the string and attach it to one of the long end of the material either by sewing it one or pinning it on. The string will help you turn the material right side out once you have finished sewing it.
4. For the material long ways right sides together. Place the string so it runs down the inside of the material. It should be long enough to stick out the other end.
5. Sew up the long end of the material leaving the ends open.
6. To turn the material inside out pull on the string while gently pulling down on the material at the other end.
7. When you have the material completely turn inside out, you can cut off the string.
8. Fold down one end of the pipe cleaner about 1/4' (this will help it slide better into the material) and insert it into the material until it is all the way in. Now glue that end of the pipe cleaner to that end of the material. Fold over the material and glue again. This will be the tail end.
9. Push the rest of the material down over the pipe cleaner by scrunching up the material at the tail end. Continue this until the pipe cleaner comes out the other end. Fold in the rough edges of the material.
10. Now you are ready to insert the mouth. Poke a small hole in the center of the mouth just so the pipe cleaner will fit through. Fold the mouth in half and insert into the mouth end of the snake fold first making sure the pipe cleaner goes through the tiny hole. Pull the pipe cleaner through and fold over the end over twice and glue together so that it cannot pull back through the hole (This is the snakes tongue). Glue the mouth in place by putting some glue between the mouth and the material.Glue on the eyes.
Cardboard Furniture
Materials:

heavy corrugated cardboard cut to the following dimensions:
-4' X 4' for tabletop
-two 4' X 3 1/2' for legs
craft knife
tack
string
pencil

Steps:

Tabletop
Place a 4' x 4' sheet of heavy corrugated cardboard flat on your work table.
Draw an X from opposite corners of the square.
Attach a push pin to one end of a 24-inch piece of string, and a pencil to the other end.
Using the push pin, attach the string to the center of the cardboard ("X marks the spot").
Using the pencil attached to the other end of the string, draw a circle on the board. Remove the pin, string and pencil.
Use your craft knife to cut the circle out of the cardboard.

Legs
Take two pieces of cardboard that are 4 feet tall and a few inches narrower than the width of the tabletop (3-1/2 feet wide should be sufficient). These will be the legs of the table. Be sure to be precise in your measurements so that the tabletop will have a flat surface to rest upon.
Mark the midpoint of each piece (approximately 1 1/4 feet). Using the midpoint as a guide, cut a notch down the middle of each piece. The length of each notch should equal half of the table height. On this table, that measurement would be two feet.
Slide one leg onto the other using the notches you made in Step 2 so that the boards fit together to make an X-shape when viewed from above.
Place the tabletop on the legs
Cardboard House Craft

What you will need:
Big cardboard box (refrigerator box), knife, markers, yard stick, glue gun, colored paper material, paint, lace, ribbon, flowers, or anything you want to use to decorate your house.

Directions:
1. Use a marker and yard stick to mark doors and windows on your house. Cut them out with a knife (make sure to leave one side of the doors and windows connected if you want to be able to open and close them).
2. Use the flaps on the top of the box for the roof. Open the flaps up and tape two of the opposite flaps together to form the roof. Then bring the other two flaps up and draw lines where they meet the sides of the flaps you taped up. Cut these lines and tape the sides of the flaps the the flaps that have already been taped.
3. To finish glue material to the inside of the windows to make drapes paint the outside of the box add folded pieces of construction paper to the roof to make a tiled roof.
4. Glue a thread spool or something to the door for a door knob.
5. Add a small box under the window to make a flower box and add plastic flowers.
6. Glue flowers to the side of the house to make a flower garden.
7. Glue a "Welcome" sign to the door.
8. Decorate the inside of the house with pictures you find in magazines.
Keepsake Stepping Stones

What you will need:
Pre-mixed Concrete (the kind you just add water. You can buy 60 pounds for a couple of dollars) One bag makes about 6 stepping stones. Water, at least two buckets, plastic gloves, garden trowel or something to mix the cement, corrugated cardboard or something to use as a mold like a box, dusk mask or bandana, plastic to cover the wet concrete, pretty stones, ceramic tiles, marbles, or something to decorate the stones with.

What to do:
1. Before you start get everything ready. Decide what shape you want the stones. You can buy molds to pour the cement into that will save you some time or you can construct the molds yourself out of cardboard and hot melt glue. Press down hard with a pen when you are drawing the pattern so that the cardboard will fold on the lines easily. Fold up and glue with hot melt glue. You might be able to use the mold more than once. If you dont want to use a mold, you can dig a hole in the ground, line it with small stones and pour the cement directly into the holes.
2. Fill one bucket with water. Use the other one to mix the cement. Make sure you use rubber or plastic gloves when handling the cement it can cause skin irritation. ONLY ADULTS SHOULD MIX THE CEMENT! It tends to spatter when mixing so cover your skin with long sleeves and long pants. Keep the children back when you are mixing. Where a dust mask or bandana when mixing. You dont want to breath in the dust. Have the children wear gloves when decorating their stones. Keep a bucket of clean water available in case the cement gets on your skin. Its a good idea to keep some eye wash close just in case or better yet wear goggles. If you are putting foot prints or hand prints into the cement, cover the skin with vaseline beforehand and have the children wash their skin with soap and water afterwards.
3. Follow the direction on the package for mixing the cement. I used about 14 cups of cement to 3 1/2 to 4 cups of water. Start with a cup of water and gradually add the cement stirring as you go. Keep adding cement until it is the consistency of oatmeal. 3. Pour the cement into the mold. You want it to be about 2 inches deep. Gently pick up a side of the mold and tap it on the ground to get rid of the air bubbles. Wait until the water on the top is gone, about 10 minutes, or until the cement leaves a lasting impression then start adding your decorations.
4. When you are finished cover your stones with plastic so that they dont dry to fast. This will keep them from cracking. Do not move the stones for at least 12 hours or longer. When they are completely dry, remove the cardboard.

Wrap the red felt square into a cone shape; this will be Santa's hat. Glue the edges of the cone together and trim the bottom to make a straight edge. Use the pinking shears to cut the white felt square into a 12x2-inch strip; this will be the hat trim. Glue the trim around the bottom of the red hat. Glue the hat around the top of the bottle. Glue a jingle bell to the pointy tip of the hat.
Use the pattern provided to cut two Holly leaves from green felt. Because of differences between browsers, you may need to resize this pattern before using. See the picture above for the proper scale. Glue the Holly leaves to one side of the hat trim and glue a button to the center of the leaves.
Cut the chenille stem in half and wrap each half around a pencil to curl. Glue each curled piece to the center of the Holly leaves next to the button.
