Crabill House August 2-4, 2002 Home Site Military Civilian Contacts Updates Registration Discussion |
EVENT CANCELLED
Due to low registration numbers this event has been cancelled. It is our sincere hope that the event can be attempted again in the future but the realities of low registration numbers have forced us to make a call at this point in time and return money to those few who have sent it in. Please contact Paul Calloway, Mark Holbrook or Beth Crabb for more information.
Background Information
G.H. Thomas' Invincibles and the 49th Ohio present a muster-in event at Crabill House, Ohio. If you're not familiar with Crabill House, it's a period homestead virtually free of 21st century intrusion. Only a few motor-sounds from the reservoir really prevent this from being totally immersive. Authentic Federal Impressions and Authentic Civilian Impressions only where we will be recreating the mustering of the famed 105th Ohio. Civilian kits are not necessary for the military reenactors. This is a unique opportunity to recreate events in a chronological order as we will likely recreate the 105th Ohio again at Perryville 2002 - the 105th's baptism of fire. If you're planning to be at Perryville 2002 under Dom, don't miss this prequel!. Drill will be in original 100-man companies. For more information on the original 105th OVI, please visit the website.
Scenarios
The exact scenarios have yet to be worked out but they will be based upon what written accounts of the 105th Ohio have yielded. You can get an idea of what we have in mind by visiting this URL: http://www.geocities.com/ovi105/bayonets1000.htm We will be portraying the 105th Ohio as they mustered in during August 1862. There will be much drill for the military, a parade, muster-in ceremonies, a picnic provided "by the civilians" for the soldiers, patriotic speeches, perhaps a brass band, a period sutler (Bob Sullivan has agreed) etc. The event will likely end with a parade as the men of the 105th head to the trains, thronged by civilians dressed in their fineries, cheering them on.
First person will be expected AND enforced. Impression
guidelines to follow. Quality, researched impressions ONLY for both military and
civilians. Specialty impressions only if approved by Mark Holbrook and/or Paul
Calloway. Mark Holbrook is the Site Coordinator.
