This was me after my 10th birthday. I'm cutting the cake and my sister is holding cpk babie Bobbie Cassandra! I still have her full outfit and blankie but no box or papers *sigh* :)
Hi! I have just recently started to semi-seriously collect the world famous doll of the 80's..the Cabbage Patch Kid. I was 6 at the time of their populartity and was happy enough to have one! I called him Parol..sort of a combination of Carol and Patrick since I wanted what all girls wanted and that was a girl...that's okay now but before it was a different situation. He is a #2 head mold, Blond loops (which I eventually cut into a shag look *sniff*), OK side tag, Blue eyes, and wearing a pink windbreaker jean look, oh, and he's a 85. From then on, my Uncle who would always spoil me, took me to Toy's R Us each birthday and let me CHOOSE the gift of my choice! Of course, you know the answer, Cabbage Patch Kid! I eventually had a preemie, two babies and a hasbro toddler, hasbro baby and a hasbro kid. It wasn't until the Internet and under-praised Email came along that my meager collection grew to 400 and counting! (I'm soooo bad...tee hee) Most came from other Cabbage patch collectors and the rest came from the great eBay auction! Nowadays, my friend and I look in second-hand stores and flea markets to see who we can find! You never know who's out there ready for you to adopt! Be sure to stop by cause I will be adding more pictures. So for now, keep cabbaging and have a great Cabbage Patch Day! :)
These were all NON-INTERNET finds! Wow! Pet bears are extremely hard to find. They come in different shades of fur, hair, eye colour and leashes. These bears were sold along side their more common friends: dog and cat. They were released by Coleco in 1986 called "Cabbage Patch Kids - Pets" and were mostly produced by the SW factory. If you find one complete it will have its leash which is non-removable, a tuft of hair, his/her side tag (which is usually missing) and CPK Pets TM embroydered on his/her left foot. I assume these are rare due to the commonality it is for a little child to have a bear as a pet. I guess it would look kind of odd if I had a bear as a pet no matter what age I was. Good luck finding one. Prices for these very hard to find bears usually range from $100usd and up.
You can tell I don't score high on contientiousness. Whats that? Learned that on the NEO-AC personality test in my psychology class. So, ummm all that tuition money did give me something. I don't like to organize my pictures unless it just happens. These were most of the kids I retook their picture for because the originals were pretty horrible. Some you may see again on my consequent pages but I believe I did get the ones I took out. Anyhoot, yes these are cute kids. In this lot you will see Jesmars, regular colecos, a hasbro teeny tiny preemie and their favourite toy...a miniature Radio Flyer. Some rare some not but all are just adorable. Why organize them according to head mold? Ummm as I do recall: the whole point of the cabbage patch kid phenomenon was not to have any that looked alike - with the exception of twins. Agree?
I found these cutie at toy shows, second hand stores and flea markets. Red head and others are 1983 with freckles and a baby powder scent. Cuties!
