Season 2001
Our ground is very responsive. Here it is parched, but a heavy rain will almost visibly work the
transforming miracle. To the right of the pavilion may be seen our practice net; and we are very
pleased with the new metal roof on the pavilion and storage shed. A recent winter saw the downfall
of a massive tree during a storm (see
More Photographs) which caused considerable damage to the pavilion roof.

Our pitch consists of a heavy-duty matting laid over a concrete foundation. One recent year the
ground was subject to the inspection of a curious helicopter pilot. Hovering over the pitch, he was,
no doubt, alarmed to find the matting elevating itself like the fabled flying-carpet. It made contact
with the chopper, and the cost of replacement was $5,000 (it had to come from the U.K.)!.Thank-
you the R.C.M.P. No harm came to either pilot or machine. Begun this year (2005) has been the preparation of a grass pitch. It will be this side of the existing one above and separated from it by a very few feet. It is the project of Howard Martin who has hopes of its being available for play in 2006.

The property, once owned by the Woodward Family, is extensive, covering more than 24 acres.
It was gifted, most generously, by a cricket-loving branch of  this family. The club holds a 99 year
lease on the entire property from Canadian cricket's parent body, the Canadian Cricket Association.
Considerable work has been done on this facility, for which credit must be given to our incumbent
president, Howard J. Martin, for his foresight and initiative.

Above is the club car which we provided for our overseas players. The ground is located a couple of kilometres from the village centre and considerably further to a shopping mall. Previous users have named it the "Silver Bullet or, occasionally, the "Pig". They left it in an unusual parking spot as a laughing farewell. To the right is the the living-room of their accommodation. The three bed-rooms associated with this are similar in decor. We enjoy, and benefit from, their presence amongst us.
Percy (Wilkinson), our senior member and Howard Martin, President of the CC&SC, share a pleasant moment during the celebrations of his (Percy's) 100th. birthday.
Presenting "Pigtoo", a more economical, tho' less exciting vehicle than its predecessor.

And our practice-net.
"Tatoo" we will call it!
Little used - save on match day - such are the perils of winning!
