On this page you will find many examples of the different types of animals we have shared our home with over the years. My wife and I are animal lovers (in case you were not able to tell) and as such we believe in passing that love for God's creations to our children. The keeping and caring for animals provides many beneficial aspects to people. It gives us a caring and non-judgmental companion to share our lives with. It promotes  responsibility and teaches us that our actions (or non-action) has consequences that affects more than just ourselves. It gives us a better understanding of the natural world around us and how God has ordered this world in a manner that combines ALL life. It shows us how diverse the MIRACLE of God's creation of life truly is.

These lessons are what we try to teach to our children and to our foster children who have lived and learned with us. Some of these lessons are difficult at times, such as when you have a terminally ill animal that cannot survive no matter what you do. Other lessons are very rewarding to those who observe them such as watching one of your animals give birth or lay eggs.  All aspects of life itself is exhibited through our pets lives.

The pets shown on these pages are mostly gone from  our lives physically now but they will never be gone from our lives completely. The memories and joys that they left us are still a part of  us. They touched us in ways that are hard to communicate completely and even more difficult to understand at times. It is not always easy to recognize if certain animals can or do become attached to their owners but it is our experience that MOST animals are capable of recognizing and preferring their respective owners. We believe that most of our animals care for  us as much as we care for them (this is especially true of the higher intellect animals such as the dogs, genet, sugar gliders and cats). The reptiles and amphibians however are not really capable of such a choice as far as we have observed.

Not all of these types of animals make good pets. I would recommend anyone considering a pet to keep to the more "normal" types of pets such as dogs and cats. I would also highly recommend that you have your pet spayed or neutered (depending on the gender of the animal) to prevent unwanted animals from being born. Certain animals breed readily while in captivity and as such it can be difficult to find homes for all of the offspring. If you are serious about keeping exotic pets I would highly suggest that you do lot's of research into the animal that you wish to keep. Research is the key to being successful in keeping exotic pets. Exotics often have demanding conditions that need to be met in order for them to survive and many times it can be either costly or difficult (or both) to maintain that balance that is needed. Luckily the Internet is full of helpful information for those who do research online. There are also many helpful people on the Internet that are usually more than willing to share information on exotic pets if you search them out. I would suggest taking a couple of months and contacting many people who already have the type of pets you are wishing to keep.

We wish you the best if  you decide to keep pets of any type. Please keep your pets healthy by taking them regularly to a licensed Veterinarian and if you have exotic pets please help your Vet out by providing as much information on the type of exotic you have that you can. Pets are a rewarding experience for almost everyone who wishes to place the proper time and effort into taking care of them. Good luck with your extended families and give them a hug for us!
