About Us...

Below are small histories (call them biographies) of the members of the Corzine family. This is a work in progress so don't be surprised if it changes from time to time. Let me begin with some information about myself. Also you will find many different links to the various websites that have affected our lives. Hopefully they will also be of use to you our guest.

My real name is John but everyone has always called me Jack. I had a fairly normal childhood. Had some personal losses (loss my mother to Leukemia in 1967) but for the most part I was blessed with a loving family and loving friends. I graduated from Le Roy High School and immediately joined the U.S. Navy. I was stationed on the U.S.S. Belleau wood (LHA-3) for four years. During that time I was an Operations Specialist (fancy name for a Radar Operator). I also went on two West-Pac cruises and have visited places such as Somalia, Sri Lanka, Australia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and other countries as well. After my enlistment I spent some time as a security guard, a fry cook, an airplane cleaning crew supervisor, and my current profession as a Union Ironworker. I got married to Jean Lemmel in October of 1985 and our first child (Nikki) was born in April of 1986 and our second child (Michael) was born in April of 1989. Our foster son (Garety) came to live with us in 1999 and is a long term placement. I love camping and other outdoor activities and have been blessed with a family that is interested in my interests. But that is enough about me. Meet the rest of the family!....

First of all there is my wife, Jean. I met Jean back in 1983 and right from the start she started to change my life. I was on a very destructive course of drinking, carousing, and drugs before I met her. I probably would not have lived past the age of 25 or so had it not been for her. Luckily Jean helped me to change all of that. She even got me to go back to church and to realize my faith again. If you wish to know more about this very special lady just ask me! Jean was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease (yes the same disease that Michael J. Fox has) in March of 2000. We have more information concerning Parkinson's Disease on our Parkinson's Disease Information page.

Now that I have spoken about my wife here is some information about herself in her own words......

Hi, my name is Jean Corzine. I am an adoptee who has had the blessing of being able to gain and keep contact with my birth mother. My adoptive family has always been very supportive and was very favorable (as well as helpful) when I went searching for my birth mom. I lost my adopted father at the age of 8 to cancer. I graduated from Le Roy High School and have an Associates Degree from Parkland College in Data Processing. I have attended Illinois State University in the Telecommunications Management Major program. I try hard to be very active in my children's activities and lives.  I also helped to run a computer bulletin board system for 3 and 1/2 years with my husband Jack. I am currently employed with Le Roy Middle School as a  teachers aide.

The next person that I am going to introduce is my first-born. This is Nikki. She is 18 years old this year and has just graduated from Le Roy High School. She has plans to further her education at a local Jr. College and then on to either ISU or U of I. She is an orange belt in Moo Sul Kwon Tae Kwon Doe (just like her old man!). She enjoys biking, roller blading, hiking in the woods, mushroom hunting, camping, cooking, pets, swimming, swimming, and of course swimming, and of course now she is of the age to like boys (oh great!). She is pictured with her boyfriend of two years, Tim.

Now we move onto Michael, my son. He is 15 and is a yellow belt in Moo Sul Kwon Tae Kwon Doe (like his mother). He enjoys camping, fishing, pets, biking,  is a member of  Boy Scouts Troop 50, Sea Scout Ship 65 (for more about Boy Scouts of America, click here .He spent many years in the local Cub Scout Pack.

I am a linebacker and right guard in football (the state-runner-up team) I wrestling the weight classes of 125-145 lbs. I enjoy sailing in sail boats. I am a sophomore in high school. I work at Noah's Ark Daycare center. I play Delta Force 2 and Diablo 2. I play the Trombone and am learning the baritone and tuba.

We were recently foster parents with Illini Christian Children's Home Ministries out of St. Joseph, IL. Our last  placement was Garety. He was a long term placement which meant that he was with us for four years. He has interests in RPG games and loves to read. For more information on our Foster Parent experience please feel free to visit our foster parent's page! Garety no longer lives with us as he is now back with his mother. We still love him and wish only the best for him. The following is what Garety  has to say about himself:

I am currently 16, working at Subway. I enjoy walking through forests, camping when I can, and biking. I enjoy role playing, and reading. Like any other kid, watching television is a necessary part of life, like food, and sleep.
