They went on their first date in August 1999. He drove the two and a half hours from New Hampshire to Needham instead of spending the night in NH with his family so that he could take Julie to a movie and to Jillians. Bill knew Julie was the girl for him when she beat him mercilessly at a game of fooseball. He got his revenge later, when he taught Julie how to play darts.
After a few dates Julie was taken by Bill's thoughtfulness and kindness. Bill thought Julie was a catch and within a couple of months they were inseparable. After a few years, they are still inseparable.
