Chance Gardens was the setting for the double-ring ceremony of Vicki Roberts, daughter of Harry and Mattie Roberts of Centralia, and Richard Barnes, son of the late Maurice and Dora Barnes of Mexico. The Rev. Randy Jones of Mexico performed the ceremony. The altar was made of a stone archway and a wishing well. Deanna Arnold, aunt of the bride was the soloist, playing the traditional wedding music and Can't Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon, and Bette Midler's version of The Rose. The bride chose a traditional white satin, off-the shoulders gown, with roses along the shoulders. The bodice was decorated with beads, sequins and pearls. The gown's train was carried by the bride's niece, Kallie Statum. The bride carried a silk cascade bouquet of pink and white lilies and roses. She was given in marriage by her children, Kristin and Julie O'Connor of Centralia, and Joseph O'Connor, of Auxvasse. The bride chose her daughter Kristin as the maid of honor, and Julie as the Jr. bridesmaid. Bridesmaids were Suzi Fleetwood, sister of the groom and Brandi DeJaynes, niece of the bride. The flower girl was Emily Fleetwood, daughter of Jewell and Suzi Fleetwood, and niece of the groom. The groom's son Rich Barnes was the ring bearer. The groom chose as his best man, Gene Nowlin of Mexico. Groomsmen were Jewell Fleetwood, brother-in-law of the groom, of Mexico, and Steve Scott of Hartsburg. Ushers were Kaleb and Korey Smith of Mexico, nephews of the Bride. The reception and dance were held at the Centralia Union Hall. Guests were served sub sandwiches, a veggie tray, cake, and punch. Candlelighters at the reception were the couple's children. The three-tiered wedding cake was decorated in pink, purple and teal with roses, bells, and doves. Servers were Cindy Colley and Kathy Roberts, sisters of the Bride, and Deanna Arnold of Centralia. The guest book attendant was Sarah Colley, niece of the bride and of Mexico. The gift table attendants were Macie DeJaynes, niece of the bride and Lindsey Armstrong, niece of the groom. The bride, a 1976 graduate of Centralia High School, is the manager of the Centralia Casey's Store. The groom, a 1975 graduate of Mexico High School, atteneded Culver-Stockton College. He is employed at Chance/Hubbell Power Systems. The couple reside in Centralia. |
