Study the History
The thing about religion is that since the beginning of time, people have had different theories on the origin of God and the universe and our purpose in it. The tie that binds all these theories is that all are believed to have come from divine revelations. The only thing about that is with all these different viewpoints, somebody�s lying. My view is that I look for the similarities between the beliefs and not the differences, because if all these different people in different places in different times believe similar things, then that tells me that they all received the same revelation so there�s probably some validity to it. Since these theories and stories were all written by men, we must admit that over time some of the stories were changed to fit the opinions of the people in power, just like when a new Congress comes in laws are changed or when a new Supreme Court comes in, old cases are sometimes overturned. Because of that we need to filter out the truth from the slants put in by the powers that be, and look for the purest version of the story or theory which is usually the oldest instead of the most popular. It�s like a rumor going around and by the time everyone knows about it, the story is totally different than what happened to the people involved who started telling the first person. Therefore I respect the oldest religions and oldest versions of books such as the Bible and the Torah instead of the King James version because if a King told his book writer to make a new version of an existing story, don�t you think he would want it to make the people he liked looked good and the people he didn�t like look bad, or at least hide the bad things that his friends did as well as the good things that his enemies did? It�s just like reading about World War II in a book published in America, Germany, and Japan, you�re gonna get three different sides to the same story. Only a neutral party like the Swiss are gonna really tell the full truth about all three cuz they Switzerland and they cool with everybody. Feel me?
