Jimmy Buffettt
Jimmy Hits One Out of the Park. His long-awaited
LIVE AT FENWAY PARK is covering the bases with lots
of songs. All Parrotheads know that a Jimmy Buffett
concert is a grand party of the first order. As a
matter of fact, like the concerts of the Grateful
Dead, Buffett shows have achieved an inscrutable
status, precisely an island vacation and rock
festival rolled into one. As a result, Buffett's
live albums and bootlegs have become an industry
unto themselves, and LIVE IN FENWAY PARK perfectly
focuses the lazy, hazy, good-times vibe that Buffett
has made his own. LIVE IN FENWAY PARK contains two
discs of in-concert tracks, which include "Margaritaville,"
of course, "Boat Drinks," and "Changes In Latitudes,
Changes In Attitudes," as well as a stimulating
version of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." Also there
is an hour-long, bonus DVD with footage from
Buffett's Fenway appearance. These audio and visual
souvenirs are an exclusive combo for the Parrotheads
looking to relive their concert experiences and
Buffett as a beginner hoping to learn. For the new
fan or the frat house without a Buffett party mix,
Live at Fenway does the trick
Although Jimmy Buffettt has never enjoyed incredible
record sales throughout his career his concerts are
an ensured crowd puller and guaranteed sellouts.
Singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett has decoded his
laid-back Gulf Coast character into more than just a
successful recording career. Supposedly he has
long-drawn-out into clothing, nightclubs, and
literature. Tuesday/ Thursday/Saturday tries is a
quintessence of a live Buffett concert from the late
90s. This live set gives fans a handful of 90s
Buffett tracks as well as many classics that have
become most wanted of his live show. Listening to
tracks like "Fruitcakes," "Coconut Telegraph" and
the fan favorite "Fins" one completely gets immersed
in the rhythm of his symphony. Buffett brings the
crowd to a place where they have a real great time
with no worries of the materialistic World. This is
a goal Buffett always tries to present his fans and
he almost always succeeds. Some of the forceful
tracks presented here are "Trying to Reason With the
Hurricane Season" and a cover of Crosby, Stills &
Nash's "Southern Cross" which includes striking
backing vocals given by members of Buffett's Coral
Reefer Band. Parrotheads who may feel they became
known to most of these tracks on earlier live
releases, "Margarittaville" is a surprise package
for them. It is complete with the lost verse and
every longtime fan will love hearing Buffett dusting
off the incomprehensible classic "Tin Cup Chalice."
This collection is a nice addition to a collection
of a casual fan who already owns and enjoys
Buffett's classic Songs that they keep on humming
every now and then. Buffett's music may not bring
the revolution or change the world but it certainly
makes the moments of a sun drenched alcohol a gala
time that nobody can beat.
