| Looking
through the company records of this time, It seems that the Petrie family
grew evermore concerned about the demise of various relatives and the loss
of Thomas and Katherine’s child, so much so that they were prompted to contact
the elusive and much talked of Prof. Wilson, for reasons largely unknown.
Athena mentions being "warned" off from her investigation of Dixon
by sinister black clad gentlemen in smoked glasses. It is certainly known from the butlers store room accounts, that the company met up at Skipton Castle presumably prior to a trip to Grimwith. The picture opposite was found in the personal work of Miss. Elaine Rosetti, it was taken around this time, is heavily water damaged and appears to be of her friend and fellow Company member Lord Rupert Buffington during the disassembly of the Skipton village panto set of 1898. |

How
Mr. Cross became embroiled with the company is uncertain but a work predates
this first meeting which curiously shows members of the Company engaged
in activities he could not possibly have known about... Left to Right : Dr. Archibald Staunton, Professor Nathan Wilson and his assistant, Mr. lacey in the early months of 1899. |
| According to "Miss"Athena’s notebook Wilson’s wife was cured of her lunacy by the machine, then the Petries and their friends were invited to go through to the fairy realm. Sadly the following story has been ripped from the book, possibly by her skeptical husband in a fit of pique, but we do have a tantalising map, presumably of the realm, by prominent artist of the day Alexander Cross. We can only guess at what adventures next befell the company, but we do know that they returned with the child, and that the secret facility allegedly under Grimwith reservoir shortly collapsed and flooded eradicating any evidence of The Machine. |

There
are a few letter fragments from Hilda to her friend Emerald which seem
to suggest Hilda somehow miraculously escaped death at a Chinese ladies
hands, despite having her head cut off. This part of the history seems
somewhat incredible and may be put down to hysteria after a traumatic
experience, but she claims that somehow the Final link with the fey lands
was at this point severed. She also claims that explorer Isabelle Montgomery
shot "White Lily Kitten". Perhaps Lord Buffingtons admiration
of the young lady stems from this incident? It is also certain that Crowley
fled to Egypt at this time after a hideous murder, possibly of Mr Deacons
wife. |
