Musical Interests
Music is a very important part of my life.  It has such a mood altering ability that I have come to rely on in my life.  It can make you feel better, worse, or indifferent about anything at any given time.  It is very hard to classify my musical interests.  In general, I prefer rock that could be classified as any or all of the following:  folk, light, alternative, popular, and even some hard rock.  Take a gander at what I am intersted in...
Tori Amos
One of the only red heads I find incredibly attractive
It is more recently that I have come to enjoy the works of Tori Amos.  Mostly due to my roommate's love of Tori, it rubbed off on me.  I saw her in concert in Milwaukee (12/2002) and was so speechless at her musical abilties - both vocally and as a pianist!  She can play two pianos at the same time, while singing!!!  My favorite songs are "Spark" (From the Choirgirl Hotel), "Taxi Ride" (Scarlet's Walk), and Raspberry Swirl (From the Choirgirl Hotel).  I recommend you listen to her albums "Little Earthquakes," "From the Choirgirl Hotel," and "Scarlet's Walk."
John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting
When Coca-Cola first put Surge on the market, for a short while the 12-packs came with a musical sampler CD, and one of the songs on it was "Bella's Birthday Cake" by Five for Fighting.  I liked them from that point on, never knowing they would make it so big with "Superman" and "Easy Tonight."  Great band, they even came to my university last year!!  Highly recommend their first album, "Message for Albert."
It had to have been about 1995 when I was shopping at an alternative music store when Octiber Project played accross the store.  The clerk said who it was, and I knew from that one song that
Mary Fahl is seated in front.  Link takes you to the "New" October Project
I had to hear more of them.  I got their first CD, self-titled, and absolutely love them!  They have a totally original sound, highlighted with pseudo-tribal rythms and Mary Fahl's drop dead beautiful voice.  They disbanded after 2 CD's, made a new group November Project which also disbanded, and recently formed October Project again without Mary Fahl on vocals.  I hope they will still be as great as ever.

The Indigo Girls
Amy Ray (left) and Emily Saliers (right) are, in my opinion, the most talented guitarists ever.  Their mastery of modern folk rock emanates through all of their work.  I have seen them in concert 3 times, and they are so incredible live, always putting on a great show.  They sing so well together, each complementing the other with intense harmonies.  I could rave about "the girls" for pages and pages, but I won't.  I will just say they are my favorite musicians of all time, check them out!!
Collective Soul
Back in high school, my buddy Scotty used to always repeat the lyrics of "The World I Know" and it would irritate me... I don't know what changed, but now I really dig this band, especially the album pictured to the left, Dosage.  This band had incredible talent, and it's evident by listening to their calibrated sound, and fine tuned vocals.  I've yet to see them live, but I hope to in short order.
