On Wednesday, 18 October 2000 an accident occured which damaged about a 25 foot section of the Fredericksburg City Cemetery Wall on Amelia Street across from the Free Lance-Star Newspaper Building.
The Matthew Fontaine Maury Camp #1722 Sons of Confederate Veterans, Fredericksburg, Virginia has been contacted by The Fredericksburg City Cemetery Company to repair the
Damage done to the
Fredericksburg City Cemetery Wall utailzing the Old Bricks entirely to repair the Cemetery Wall.
The Following Images were taken on Thrusday, 19 Ocotber 2000 by the Virginia President, Order of Southern Gray, Mrs. Susan Miller that depict the damage done and the work to be done in accomplishment of repairing of the wall.  On the evening prior, Mrs. Miller accompanied myself to view the damage at about 10:30 p.m. at which time we could not get satisfactory images of the damage.  Thank You Mrs. Miller for your Images of the Damage to the Fredericksburg City Cemetery Wall you have taken for us to view and have allowed us to present here and now.
The Matthew Fontaine Maury Camp #1722 again has been called upon to repair the Wall, which encircles both the Fredericksburg City Cemetery and that of the Fredericksburg Confederate Cemetery.  Our Duty to "Those Who Rest In Peace" there is an endeavor in which we feel is an important part of our
SCV Camp to
"Those Who Have Gone Before Us"
It is
"In Their Honor and Our Proud Heritage" we accomplish this task as hand.
Not only will the Matthew Fontaine Maury Camp #1722 be involved in this endeavor, but that also of the Order of Southern Gray, Lucy Ann Cox Chapter #4, Fredericksburg, Virginia.  Working together, we shall complete this Duty in the repairing of the Fredericksburg City Cemetery Wall.  We call upon all of our Camp #1722 Compatriots to assist each other and the Order of Southern Gray to complete this endeavor in a speedy manner.
