| The Matthew Fontaine Maury Camp #1722 Has Been Working With The Ladies Memorial Association Since 1995 To Preserve, Perpetuate And Protect That Sacred Ground That These Gallant And Proud Confederate Soldiers Are Interred Within. The Lucy Ann Cox Chapter # 4, Order Of Southern Gray Has Assisted Us Considerably During Our Duty To The Fredericksburg Confederate Cemetery And Those Gallant and Proud Confederate Soldiers Who "Rest In Peace" Within The Cemetery. In 1998 Descreation To These Soldiers Final Resting Place Was Committed By Persons Unknown. Many Headstones Were Damaged And Some Destroyed Beyond Repair. The Matthew Fontaine Maury Camp #1722 And The Lucy Ann Cox Chapter # 4 Fredericksburg, Virginia Have Been Involved In The Reparing And The Cleaning Of These Enduring Monuments... We Have Completed Our Endeavor In Repairing, Painting And Lettering Of The "1870" Entrance Gate To The Fredericksburg Confederate Cemetery. This "Duty" Was Completed On unday, 23 August 2001 And Our Thanks To John D. Martin Jr In His Tireless Efforts, Dedication And Expertise In The Completion Of This Monument To "The Boys In Gray." The Collapsed Section Of The Confederate Cemetery Section Of The Wall We Began In August Of 2000 Is Completed. |
