Dulazar Corporation is an institution of Service and Social Help in Medellin,
Colombia. It provides housing and a sense of community and life to groups of
people that have endured the harshest unfortunes.
In 1962 Carlos, Eduardo and Jose Duque Salazar created a legal entity for a
Non Governamental Organization. They had a Christian Ideal of Life and wanted
to follow the Gospel's Teaching of Loving one's Neighbor.
In 1988, after the passing on of these three brothers, Don Juan LLano Gonz�lez, a close
friend of them, that had shared the joys and tasks of such beautiful mission,
continued the hard work with enthusiasm, he oriented the destinies of the
Non Governmental Organization.
Since all problems can not be solved by the Churches or the State, the Men
of Good Will assume their duties and help others.
People that have worked for many years earnestly and responsably may suffer
any type of catastrophe in their health or economy. Or someone in their
family can endure economic hardship. Sometimes it is a dear friend that is
sinking in the economic realities. Our own self interest prompts us and
private business to participate giving the means to help others. Even when
the government can not or does not want to help.
Misfortune can strike anybody
We know the cases of several people that were entrepreneurs, they had their
hour of prosperity and richness but fell, and they reached Old Age in a state of
poverty and desperation. The Insurance Companies can not cover all the risks
of Human Life. Specially those risks of financial trouble or the demise of
an economic activy that fails. We love Private Property and Free Business
but do not think that this is the perfect solution to all problems.
There is still a space for the Human Heart.
We serve even those who are not Christian, or those who do not share our
political ideas.
Dulazar Corporation has served many young people besides our Senior Citizens.
It has provided housing to many young families in many different towns with
affordable loans.
If the Photos that you see are from the Elderly, it is because we feel special
affection for those that arrive to the last stage of life with bad health
and lack of money.
A Bazar to gather funds. Friends from the institution were invited, also some
relatives of our Senior Friends. |

We encourage Entrepreneurship � ( Free Enterprise )
Our Elderly and their children have economic initiates to generate income
and they support themselves. We have industries, orchards, kitchens, etc..
working for the outside world, but everybody works for his own benefit and
not for an institution.
We invite You to see our pages in which we explain many activities with
photos. The Menu is below and there you will see workshops for clothes, dolls,
etc..., also orchards and gardens for growing vegetables and aromatics.
Besides that we provide many useful ideas for Life and Old Age in our pages :
not only the gardens and orchards, but also pets to accompany our Old Friends,
stores, bazars to gathers funds, leisure time activities like music and
dancing, etc...( we organize parties for old and young ).
There are some useful ideas for the Renovation and Remaking of Houses and
Apartments, specially for Old Age.

Gloria Cecilia lives in one of our homes with her elderly mother, and her little she-dog 'Pinina'. � Gloria C. likes to work when her health is OK. She wants to show her canaries, the dogs and her life with the Senior persons in our community for an interesting life.

Provides housing for the Elderly as a loan ( no rent ) : The homes of San Carlos were built as the renovation of an old building, 1500 square meters, 24 apartaments with green zones, big comunitary rooms and a gimnasium.
Caring for parents, grandparents, granduncles
42 persons live now here, they have found company, solidarity and a roof.
Some of their relatives are young and this increases the sense of integration
to life and the possibilities of mutual help. The young people work inside and
outside, they get the prescriptions for the elderly, they help, go with their
old relatives to the physician, and most important, they generate income for
the family.
Each family is autonomous and responsible for its own apartment and food.
This is not a refuge or a prison with bars, everybody has his own budget,
his own meals and schedules, and gets out whenever he or she wants.
There is total independence for each human being for a normal life.
With the advantage of having friends and common projects, nobody is forced
to participate in parties, games, activities or works. We have observed that
these families are very enthusiastic about these social activities and nobody
stays at home, except the sick.
This system of not depending on an institution for food and meals,
schedules, clothes, laundry, etc, helps people to stay young and sprightful,
our eldest citizens are vital, they keep their mental and physical health without
being monitored like prisoners. However there is strong solidarity with the
neighbors in case of sickness, chirurgy, or emergencies.
If someones has a project of life, then every day new hopes are born,
that means a young spirit, and a feeling of being useful and a participant of
life. This place is not to wait for Death but to long for Life.
Medical treatment and medicines
Dulazar affiliates its citizens to medical emergency services, this is not
perfect, big operations are not covered, nor can we pay costly medicines,
because of lack of budget,
But we do the best we can within our limitations.
We build housing in other towns and there sell homes to young people, helping
them in many respects. But we are obssesed with the miracles that a little help can
work on the Elderly.
