Munsell Student Color Charts | JCAT Training: Color Triangle, Color Attributes and Color Difference Magnitude
Note: the color vision training program described below is performed under standard illumination and environment conditions, according to ASTM Standard Guide E 1499-97 for the "Selection, Evaluation, and Training of Visual Observers".
Munsell Student Color Charts

Set includes 11 charts (one for each of ten hues, plus one hue, value/chroma - H V/C -
chart) showing hue circle, value scale and chroma scale.
JCAT Training - Color Triangle
Designed for testing and training the color aptitude of normal observers. Color professionals should be
capable of detecting small color differences of objects. Test and Training Program may require the use of 2 types of card sets: A) Beginner and AA) Advanced.
Each set has 6 cards for each of the 4 main colors (total of 24 cards). Color professionals should be
capable of finding the correct position of the color sample that is different from the other two in the
same card. When performing the test, the individual's color vision skills are also enhanced.
Designed for testing and training the professional's color skills in detecting the type of color
difference (color attributes according to the Munsell System). Test and Training Program may require the use of 2 types of card sets: A) Beginner and Each set requires assessment of 18 cards which color sample pairs show a specific color difference,
either in Hue, Value or Chroma. Image shows the purple set of 3 cards. Other 5 colors are green, red,
orange, yellow, and blue.
Assessment of the color attributes requires a somewhat specialized knowledge of color science, so
this test and training should be performed after teaching the individual by means of the Munsell Student Color
Charts.
AA) Advanced.

JCAT Training - Color Difference Magnitude
Designed for testing and training the professional's color skills in distinguishing and estimating the
size of small and big color differences. As in the case of the Color Attributes Training, this kind
of estimative is somewhat specialized, but it is very important in the assessment of color differences.
There are 3 master cards for each main color (red, green, and blue) containing a scale from 0 to 10
for each of the 3 color attributes (Hue, Value, and Chroma).
The individual does several assessments of color cards, which are presented in random order, and
his/her color skills are scored according to the number and size of wrong estimates. Color professionals
should perform these assessments in a regular basis towards superior color skills in quantitative
estimation of type and size of color differences.
