the reception went by so fast! we arrived relatively on time from the ceremony, but then posed for a bunch of pictures on the front porch... talked some, danced our little waltz (to "first love waltz" an old virginian tune arranged by our quartet), .... talked some more, cut the cake (four--count them, four!-- flavors of moist, spectacular layered cake. carrot, raspberry chocolate, coconut, and yellow for those curious to see what flavors they missed... mimi shared her carrot cake with me, otherwise i would have missed it!)... talked some more... smiled a lot, and enjoyed the company of these crazy, wonderful, devoted friends we have who travelled all across the country (there was a very short list of townie invitees!) to come celebrate our marriage with us.
we (well, i) didn't worry about a single thing, as the wedding reception planner was amazing-- she came with the venue, and ensured that all was going on schedule and as planned (and better). a bargain, i tell you. hooray for beth at the virginia museum of fine arts center for education and outreach!
the music was beautiful (ryan's brilliant internet find), and every time i looked at them they were smiling as if they were enjoying themselves... our photographer was a bit rough around the edges, but very effective. the bus was another story... we'll skip that. i send out a huge thank you to those patient souls who rode the bus!!! thank you!
every time i turned around there was another person smiling, hugging, and congradulating us...what a warm, gracious bunch of friends you are! and still, i know i didn't get a chance to hug everyone there and thank you for coming... though it would not have done to keep you all there all night. ! becca made sure ryan and i actually ate something (besides the cake, it was the only time my mouth was full during the whole reception); aunt kaki/kevan, auntie joker, the johnsons ("that lovely couple from dallas"), and the koerners, i SWEAR met everyone there; and so many people pitched in by taking extra photos, picking up details for us (entertaining people after the reception, providing rides, and just being so flexible!!); and so many friends generally enjoying themselves and looking like they were having fun (thereby facilitating that warm, amicable atmosphere that is conducive to standing receptions) that it could not have been such a success without everyone there! thank you!!!
here's a huge smattering of photos... professional and amateur for your entertainment... |
