always a limited edition of no more than 30 units, ornaments just get more elaborate each year!

temari is a traditional japanese craft designed to keep little girls busy and utilize leftover pieces of fabric/string/etc...like little hacky-sacks.  they get much more fancy than what i concocted, but that's ok.  lotsa geometry
(esp in ones like the purple one, third row down, second from the right) and a lot of winding and weaving of string.  die-hard sewers use a fabric center (with sometimes a bell hidden in there), but i wrapped yarn around a styrofoam ball (for cushin) and then wrapped cotton thread around that.  much faster.  :)  where did i learn this?  from brenda at work and my ever-useful borders bookstore.

it was a lot of fun, and it travels easily---except on airplanes (something about sharp pointy teeth, i mean scissors)
