so i did a GREAT job at dress rehersal. fabulous. oustanding. unequaled. even in the actual perfomance. but that's OK!!!
this year i continued on with the two-number theme from last year, and had a blast.
monday night (tap3/4) danced to "boogie woogie bugle boy" from the hit musical "swing"....yes...i have danced other boogie woogie dances from the same CD in previous years... it was hard, but fun! i had a tough time remembering to smile, though, and i invented some new moves for the performance (everyone SAID they didn't notice, but.... i was doing some solo work), creative person that i am. whoops.
thursday night (tap2/3) danced to "come fly with me" as sung by michael buble. quite fun, and easier to handle foot-wise, though there was a much stronger emphasis on arms and precision! we nearly did it perfectly, but seemed to get out of sync at the end.... the audience thought the wave effect was intentional, and clapped wildly. i was one of the people off beat. ooops! but i smiled broadly and had a better performance for this number.
ryan came to both shows 'coz he's a devoted fan, and has a high tolerance for these things. debbie (from pervious tap years) came from VAbeach to cheer on the afternoon crowd...we had lunch together afterwards. ryan brought his parents to the night show, and brenda met them there. hoooray for my fan club! we all went to bev's for ice cream afterwards (even though the other "fly with me"s went to brewsters...bev's was more handy) and stayed up way too late. brenda's ginger ice cream was splendid, i had a mocha-almond shake, and ryan and his parents enjoyed sundaes....everyone went home full and rather hyper....
and another successful tap year was completed... |
