the christmas ornament for 2002....

i decided this was something i wanted to learn to do, and, having made an elaborate (though boxy) 3-piece "MOM" for (hah!) mom for her birthday, i figured i knew enough to move along.

mimi gave me a glass grinder for my birthday and i was OFF! whoosh! borders graciously sold me three swell books (one for the pictures) and JoMoCo sold me supplies even though i didn't know what i was doing.  by the end, i was doing pretty swell-ly, i must say.  except i still avoid cutting curves.  each in its own time, my friend.

the next time i go to wisconsin i'll get a picture of the MOM (it also goes to show what everyone already knows--that MOM is WOW upsidedown).  also, i fulfilled a request from bec to do a piece for her...and ended up in my bug theme again (spiders!).  it was my first non-freeform type piece --with actual borders and pieces cut to fit together correctly.  woah.  i know, but it turned out pretty well.  still need to get a picture of that, too.
