so grandma opal turned eighty the day after thanksgiving.  WOAH we all said.  "yeah," said she, ... "do you want anything to eat?" but we'd already eaten the night before (though not 'til 9pm 'coz the turkey was on its own schedule), so we nibbled a lot.  and ate the pie.  !  thanksgiving night was the big doo-wah at uncle chuck's house, with both of his daughters and any respective grandchildren around, and dennis and evelyn (and us!)...that made for FOUR generations in the house.  crazy.  i'm not usually around when those sort of things happen.
turkey was delicious, the rest of the meal was customary as to the holiday and the geography, and we all sang happy birthday at the end!  HOOORAY for g'ma opal and turning eighty!  how often does THAT happen, eh??
