so we called in every favor we had and didn't have for the multi-part moving out process. mom came to help me pack for a week --we had 98% of the house done, she broke all her nails, and our feet were so sore (but nothing broke in the move....we're that good). the heat was horrid, the humidity was worse, and we decided to move ourselves. excellent.
first the pod... one pod is not enough for our stuff, we learned. good to know, but a little late with the info. angela, chris, jake, jake's brother, and ryan and i all strategically packed that 8x8x16 cube in one 12 hour stint. we were sweaty, exhausted, but in good spirits. chris tied every rock climbing knot he knows, and the boxes all stayed in place. brenda came by to help load up the cars in the morning.
then what to do with the REST of the stuff? hmm. we rented a budget van (appx the size of the pod) and loaded it up, willow tree and all. no pictures of mark and jake helping us out there, we were just so disgustingly hot.
and we were gone. just like that. (only more humid)
the willow tree sat for a week on my car at the apartment, waiting patiently for me to fulfill the promise of a happy home in the real ground (it had fulfilled its end of the bargain by not dying from some fungus).
and then, two weeks after i started work, we moved again.... |
