mimi and i borrowed becca's car for a couple days and started to tackle mimi's christmas shopping list. not that we used the car for just shopping. we went to walker brothers (of course), hackney's, mellow yellow, and the dentist, too.
via foot we shopped the christmas bazaar at presby place, visited helen hughes, dusted, cleaned the kitchen...and talked and talked and talked! dean, bec, art, mimi, and i enjoyed corned beef, cute little red potatos, and strawberry shortcake on thursday night, singing songs with each turn of the conversation. we were quite the lively bunch!
mimi taught us a new song (from the depression) whose only part she remembers is "get out your old grey bustle, put your fanny in a hustle 'coz the rent is coming due...woogie woogie woogie woogie... if you can't get five take two!" we were delighted that our mimi should teach us prostitution songs and mimi was mortified she should teach songs with such content to her grandchildren.
becca and art played with us in the evenings after work, then i returned to becca's in the evenings to hang pictures and admire her very cool new apartment (but we forgot to take pictures). and becca took over the driving on saturday on the way to the dentist and showing mimi and me through millennium park...
exhausting fun was had by all!
