we went for au naturale this easter - no additives or preservatives.
it was mom's inspiration of course.

so we decided on our colors:  beets (red), tumeric (yellow), spinich (pale green), blackberries (purple), and coffee (brown).

we decided the endeavor was a tremendous success - the eggs were absolutely beautiful (we're not biased at all!).  some of the pans we used for the dyes were shallow and lended themselves well to partial coverage of the egg and an array of designs (drip berries on the egg for a polkadot effect).  we used rubberbands for some bind/resist patterns...and we found ourselves exclaiming "ooh --bet that'd make a good color!" for a few weeks afterwards. what a successful easter project!

ryan and dad worked on the theatre screen building, and mom and i worked on blocking the entryway to the groundhog hole by our front porch.  mimi rested her eyes and supervised the traffic through the house --and read a few books.
