man. was that a fun time or what? mimi turns 90 and the whole family turns out to celebrate (we like to do that). all the cousins and sisters and their respective other halves poured in via planes, trains, and automobiles for a weekend bonding session at the YMCA at estes park. it was fabulous. those who missed it ...will be there next time.... along with the rest of us 'coz we had such a good time. !
we didn't fall for the matching t-shirt thing (some families had complex coloring and marking systems to denote their relationship to others in their gene pool), no, kaki arranged fleece jackets for all of us. a lovely grey with a purple embroidered elephant (nose up of course) on the pocket area. very tasteful.
we bonded over all the cafeteria style meals, the big birthday dinner, singing girlscout songs around the campfire, watching the slideshow of mimi's life, telling mimi stories (with props!), playing mini-golf, going horseback riding, playing frisbee golf, hiking, playing basketball, snoozing (high altitude you know), and generally catching up with eachother's lives.
i'd say it was right up there in the top 3 most successful family reunions/mimi birthday celebrations. way to go, selves, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIMI!!!
