hoooray! we went on a 12 hr drive to columbus, ga, to celebrate with ryan's uncle chuck and his ?(now wife) honey barbara. the drive there wasn't supposed to be so long...but then we were caught in traffic. as in a-minivan- wedged-itself-under-a-tractor-trailor type traffic (with three sympathetically crashed vehicals off the side of the road, too). it took us an hour to go 5 miles and we decided to off road in the M3 to get to the exit only .5 a mile up. phew. people on the other side of the road were so backed up that they were playing tennis in the middle of their side of the highway (we were on the rubberneck side). not sure when they were released for normal traffic.
but we made it to rehersal dinner in time to eat soup and delicious chinese food. the events the next day were in (yea!) an episcopal church, and we promised to support chuck & barbara in their new endeavor as husband & wife.
and then...
we ate cake!
right, but thats not the end, we went to kakis, hung out in atlanta to see sam & merideth, and then ryan drove us back home. lotsa driving, but we made it. ! |
