 1966 Fastback

Pictures

This car was purchased in 1998 after sitting in a garage for about 13 years.  There is minor body rust, some floor pans had been replaced.  It was originally a rangoon red 2 bbl 289, 3 speed car.  It had a 4 speed, 4bbl and poppy red paint when we got it.  The problem was 3 speeds came with very high rear gear, in this case a 2.8 to 1 in an 8” rear end. The color is now a 2 stage Dark Shadow gray metallic.

Modifications:

Powerplant: 347, Trick Flow Track Heat heads, custom grind solid lifter cam, Holley 750, Kooks full length headers, full MSD 2 stage setup, custom 3” side exit exhaust, 2 core aluminum radiator w/ vintage air electric fan.

Transmission: 4 speed toploader with a Hurst V gate inline shifter.

Body:   The color used to be poppy red, but it is now a 2 stage dark shadow gray mettalic with a cowl hood and some hood pins for insurance.

Interior: New carpet, painted panels, new door panels and weather striping, redone fold down rear seat.

Suspension: lower 1” in the front, poly bushings, Boss leafs, Comp. Engineering traction bars and adjustable shocks in front, KYB shocks in the rear.

Rear end: Nodular center with a 4.11 spool, Daytona support in a Currie 9” with 31 spline Currie axles. The wheels are 15"x3.5" Welds Draglites in the front, and 15" x 8" Weld Draglites in the back with 26"x10.5" ET Streets

Misc: 6 point roll bar by Dan Page racecars. Racing seats, 5 pt harnesses. Front disc brake conversion. Oil pressure, water temp, voltage gauges and a memory tach. Detatchable steering wheel.   Hurst roll control, electric water pump and fan.

Best ET/MPH:  11.78 @ 115.74 MPH

Best 60 ft. time: 1.665 sec.

In progress…
