| Humble Beginnings: Dr. Marcus Immanuel was an average lower-middle class boy from Boston in the 60's and 70's. He was very much into the civil rights movement and to this day counts Martin Luther King Jr. as one of his heroes. However, at a young age his mental abilities began to show. Though his abilities are not necessarily astounding, the good doctor learned to hone his telepathic skills to a keen sharpness that has placed him among the most powerful minds on the planet. Even as he began to explore and practice with his new abilities, he did not forsake his course in life. He studied hard, and honestly in order to learn the ins and outs of Genetics, Psychology and Social Work. Education was a focus of his life for many years. Thusly, it was only natural that when the mutants became so much more common and in need of guidance that he start a school. When violence and evil mutants began to roam about, Dr. Marcus Immanuel, known often as "Dr. Man" formed a small fighting force within the school... a place where anyone could come and learn a better way. Though there are many challenges, not the least of which are some of Dr. Man's old colleagues including Dr. Diabolical, a mad geneticist and Overseer a magnetic mutant controller with delusions of grandeur that are all too often supported by his vast intellect and great power. --End Entry |
| Tragic Cycles: The Gifted began as a small crew... there were many members who came and left in the beginning, but two stand out. One, Maria, a young hispanic girl from the southwest with the ability to control weather and secondly, Focus, a man with the ability to produce massive amounts of energy from his eyes. There were adventures, many small and some great, but none more tragic than a battle against the Overseer's Fraternity of Mutancy which ended in the destruction of the mansion... Pillar, a man of great strength, died that day, saving the lives of the other children and Dr. Man dissappeared in a glorious battle with Overseer, from which Overseer emerged and Dr. Man did not. These were dark days, but not without hope. Maria and Focus helped carry on the torch before Focus left to discover his past. Roullo, a psychometric gambler was recruited and quickly became close friends with Maria. Blackheart also joined the team, a refugee from the future who was tailed by the vicious Anti-Mutant Task Force and the superior technology. But even under their attack, the Gifted swelled in numbers and power. Raze. Backfire. Riggs. Scream. The Bengal. Many more joined in the fight for mutant justice. Including a powerful young telekinetic named Starchilde. These were glorious days, but were not to last long. Even as they battled the infamous Dr. Diabolical for Prodigy's life and Apocalyptic Elephant fought with all his massive might, Blue with his great intellect while Forecast and Blackheart took charge, Overseer, having joined the team, had dark plans for them. Once Dr. Manny had alerted them to the fact that he was alive in a remote location, Overseer set his plan into action which involved an impostor Dr. Man, the thinning of the ranks, even though new members were fighting to get in and finally, the destruction of the AMTF and Gifted Mansion in a single blow, killing Blackheart and crippling both organizations in one fell swoop. The group in exile, coupled with Forecast's abduction by aliens would be enough to stop a lesser group, but the Gifted endure, and with the return of their one true leader and guru, Dr. Man, the real thing in the flesh, the Gifted may yet again rise from the ashes of tragedy. --End Entry |
