Comparison to Events Today:

Even today, there are revolutions happening today.
In Isreal and surrounding countries, Palestinians have been attacking Jewish city-centers and religious areas.  During WWII, thousands of Jewish refugees fled to Isreal.  The British, who occupied the area, favoured the new Jewish population.  The British gave control of the country entirely to the Jewish population where the name was changed from Palestine to Isreal.
The Arab population believes that they should once again have contol over the government.
Several important Arab temples are in Isreal.  The Mosque and Dome of the Rock are the most important buildings in the Muslim culture and are both in Jerusalem.
Many Palestinian extremests do 'what ever it takes' to reassume control of their land.  Unfortunatly, these actions are often acts of terrorism like suicide bombs.
More recently, the Isrealis attacked Palestine and since then there has been on and off fighting.  The Isrealis have the technological advantage but the Palestinians have the population and close allies.
