Claude:
two really blue sky & sunny days. Stars were out Saturday nite. Half-moon, aggravated bark late Saturday night.

June 22, Saturday
Drove up in the a.m. Stopped at Hinckley casino and flea market. Also stopped
in Askov gift store and an old grocery store bldg. which also houses a weekend fleamarket. It's for sale. Got to Holyoke about 3:00 p.m. and found that Claude needed staples for his staple gun, so drove to Gary-West Duluth. Day was clear, light until almost 10:00 a.m.

July 4-6
Came up later on the fourth. Hot & buggy. The fifth was around 86-degrees and humid, quite miserable. Went for a drive to Duluth which was bustling with tourists. On the way home had to stop in Holyoke and Nickerson to look for ice. Finally found some at the Duquette Store. Saturday, the sixth, had cooled off to the mid fifties and rain. Claude put up hardware cloth in the eaves to keep out rodents. Small, white, waxy flowers at the cable, nodding, might be orchids. Strawberries just peaking. Yellow flowers by birch cluster at the sandpit. Toads and frogs, heard the red squirrel and musical bird that Claude likes. Dark around 9:30. Took a dip in the Net (river) at the municipal park-quite a welcome respite from the heat. Bring a swimming suit next time.
