Early goals hammered the Rangers

Three goals in the first 15 minutes of the game proved too much for the Rangers to digest. For their 8th game, Club M was without 3 key players – Désiré, Brian and Ravi, who is still nursing a thigh injury. Nevertheless, Club M had a great start with an early goal thanks to Anwar, who was the first to meet a cross from the right by Nicolas and unleashed an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper. This was his 13th goal for the Club. With the absence of Brian, Dickson was once again at the heart of the defense where he plays best.

Club M kept going forward and it paid off a few minutes later with a second goal by Ashvin. He inherited a pass from Nicolas on the right flank and left his marker in the wind to find himself one-on-one with the keeper and fired home the second goal. This was the first of his 3 goals of the afternoon.

Ashvin scored a splendid second goal six minutes later when he beat the keeper with a curling long range shot, 30 metres from the goal. At this point, the ‘dodos’ became a bit complacent and the Rangers started to shake things up. Their first chance at goal came in the 25th minute with their striker trying a long range shot on target but saved by Thierry. The Rangers continued to exert some pressure on the Mauritians and had a few chances of scoring before the break. But somehow, the dodo’s keeper and his defense were on their toes and alert to clear all the dangers.

The second half resumed with both teams battling hard in midfield for possession. The Rangers had a chance to reduce the score-line 10 minutes in the second half when their striker found himself one-on-one against Thierry, after a letdown by the defense. The striker tried to lob the dodo’s keeper, but the latter was on his guard and saved the shot.

KR Rangers were exerting more pressure on Club M’s defense in the second half and they got the goal they were looking for in the 70th minute after some confusion in Club M defense. A short corner taken by the opposition caused panic in the defense, which left an opposing attacker free in the penalty box and he headed home the only goal for KR Rangers. Our Captain was furious after conceding this goal because of a man-marking mistake.

A few minutes later, the Rangers had another good chance to score when the dodo’s defense could not deal with a cross from the right flank, which found a Rangers striker alone in the penalty box. However, his shot flew above the crossbar and it was a relief for the Club M players.

In the 75th minute, Ashvin completed his hat-trick with a superb goal. He received the ball on the right flank, on the verge of the penalty box, from a cross on the left by Anwar. He had time to control the ball and unleashed a powerful angled shot past the keeper. His goal sealed victory for Club M.

The Rangers had a good chance to add a second goal to their tally a few minutes from the end when one of their strikers deflected a cross from the right, bound for goal. Thierry had his eyes on the ball and produced a good save to deny the Rangers a second goal. It was a sweet and hard-earned victory for Club M!
