Welcome to Cletus and Mavel's homepage.  Now my name is not really Cletus nor is my wife's name Mavel and we do not own a Chicken House and Lodge, but such is the nature of the internet.  The purpose of this website is to document our travels to the Philippine Islands and possibly provide some tourist information for those of you thinking about making a similar journey.  Actually, there is a place called "Mavel's Chicken House and Lodge" located in Butuan, Mindinao, Philippines and you can rent a room there for about $1.70 US.  My wife says it's a short time hotel (whatever that is) and we have no idea whether you have to sleep with the chickens.

I wrote the section about Puerto Galera, Mindoro in July of 2000, so hotels and prices may be a bit dated.  However, I have checked all the links and everything still seems to work.  I doubt much has changed in the last year and a half.

Zambales on Luzon Island is the coastal province just west Angeles City and north of Bataan, and is the location of the old American Subic Naval Base.   Here I describe the Subic area plus the road north to Iba, Pangisinan and La Union.  Also included is a page covering our chartered flight over Mt. Pinatubo. 

On Palawan, we have visited Puerto Princesa, Sabang (Underground River) and El Nido.  This page is still under construction and mostly contains pictures and a few details about our trip.

We have been to Bohol a couple of times.  This is one of our favorite places for vacation.  Here I describe Alona Beach area on Panglao Island and of course some pictures of the Chocolate Hills.

Though we've visited Cebu City many times, the Cebu link is devoted almost entirely to the resort town of Moalboal, about a 2 1/2 hour drive south of Cebu City.

Maybe some day in the future, I'll describe our trips to Baguio, Banaue, Tagatay, La Union, Boracay and Mindinao.
