"Teach Your Child To Pray Against A Spiritual Attack"#6
by Jodie Hamilton

Every child needs to know how to deal with a spiritual attack whether it is a sense of a presence in their room, nightmares, or some direct confrontation. God's Word teaches us that Satan or his demons always submit to the spoken Word. That is why a child needs to express aloud their faith in the name of Jesus Christ.

Tell your frightened children "greater is the one who is in you than the one who is in the world". (
1 John 4:4) "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline."(2 Timothy 1:7) If your child can't say anything because of fear, you should let them know that God always hears them when they talk to Him in their mind, and God will help the child say what they need to say. It is wise to put on the armor of God Ephesians 6 and memorize some of God's Word and have some on hand, written down, that you can say aloud when under attack. As I mentioned earlier, Christian music also is a great tool to have playing throughout your home.

Some of the horror movies today have moved from physical monsters to spiritual entities scaring most people. Consequently, a vast majority of people are scared of things that go bump in the middle of the night, and have no fear of God. This is the exact opposite of Scripture. Not one verse in the Bible instructs us to fear Satan. God is the only legitimate fear object.

The power of Satan is in the lie. As soon as the lie is exposed, the power is broken. The control center is the mind, and Satan will try to get the child to believe the lie.

As you pray for your children daily through the problems and crises of their lives, you may feel at times you are standing alone against the world, and the devil. But you're really not. When you pray for your children, you are in the best of company. God's Word does tell us that the Lord Jesus Himself and His Holy Spirit are committed to intercede for your children and for you.

Have a look at Romans 8:27 and Hebrews 7:25. Don't forget You never pray alone, never.

Children will be set free from what they do. Because Satan is under no obligation to obey our thoughts, children must pray the prayers out loud.

If you are trying to gain control of your child by screaming at them, you are not exercising your God-given authority. You are undermining it. All you are doing is operating in the flesh, which is precisely what the devil wants you to do. Fear of anything other than God is mutually exclusive of faith in God.

What is so insidious about the devil is his relentless pursuit of those who are most vulnerable, our children. The book I suggested earlier, Spiritual Protection for Your Children , will help you tremendously in this area and offer guidance and prayers to pray for you and your children. This book also offers Seven Steps to Freedom, which will help teach you how to win whenever you're under attack. It is important to be there to lead your child through the steps. Sometimes they can experience a real struggle, become sick, headaches etc. Usually the symptoms stop when they share them. If not, pray again that Satan stops harassing them. Prayer is our weapon against all attacks.
