Spiritual Warfare ...

I have put together the following information hoping it will help others who are going through this type of struggle. Rest assured that you are not alone and Christ is with you each step of the way. You see, Jesus Christ has already delivered us from the evil one and we need to take our stand in this and claim this victory. Peter instructed us "Resist him, firm in your faith" 1 Peter 5:9. Satan is defeated, believe it, and stand up to him. When you do, he has no choice but to eventually back down....Jodie Hamilton

2 Timothy 4:18

The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Some of us are saying that we're not sure that demons even exist. Well we only need to read God's Word and we will discover for ourselves what God says about the kingdom of darkness.

Ephesians 6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world in the heavenly realms.
Others of us are cowering in the corner pleading "O God please help us!" God has already defeated and disarmed Satan at the cross. He conferred all authority on you in Christ. So you need to realize who you are in Christ and start demonstrating the authority you already have.
You have authority over Satan's activity and you have the armor of God to protect you. Whenever Satan attacks, you must "be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might (
Ephesians 6:10). You are vulnerable when you are walking by sight instead of by faith or walking in the flesh instead of in the Spirit.
When Satan's accusations of unworthiness attack you. Don't pay any attention to them. You need to respond in a way telling Satan that you have put your trust in Christ and that you are a child of God, demand Satan and his forces to release you. You have been rescued by God and he has declared you righteous.
Jesus has promised that no one shall snatch us out of His hand (
John 10:28). Paul assures us that nothing, can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:35-39).

Demonic strongholds are not demon possession. They are sins or events that allow Satan to have a continuing effect in a person's life or in a church e.g. Person living with unforgiveness in his or her life has a stronghold of bitterness that weakens the person and keeps him or her in bondage.
Sins passed on from one generation to another can be common ground Satan has for gaining access to our children.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
As Christians we can be under attack not necessarily because of anything we are doing wrong but because we are doing something right. But it is important to work through issues in your life and in your past to make sure you haven't allowed Satan a foothold in your life. We will certainly suffer the consequences of our own sin and irresponsible behavior, but we can also suffer for righteousness sake as Job and many other courageous saints have done. Paul says, "In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted".
(2 Timothy 3:12)

It is a good idea to recommit your life to Christ and to also look at your Family History such as:

Sins of past descendents can be carried down to 3rd and 4th generations. If past family members have been involved in the occult it is a possibility that a curse has been placed upon the family etc.

You need to look at your Personal History:

Have you been involved in any activities such as Occult, Cult, Other Religions such as New Age, Jehovah's Witnesses, Masons, Spirit Worship, Christian Science Unity, Yoga, Religion of Martial Arts etc. or been Hypnotized, Palm reading, Tarot cards, Astrology/horoscopes, Seance, Table or body lifting etc.

I suggest you read the following books that I have suggested which will go through the above list and guide you how to work through it and how and what to pray so that you are set free.

Some of the best books I have read on this topic are by an author Neil T. Anderson - The Bondage Breaker, (this is a must it will also help you overcome negative thoughts, irrational feelings and habitual sins.)

Another must book by Neil T. Anderson is Spiritual Protection for your Children. This book is the best it goes through Seven Steps (Steps to Freedom in Christ) that will help set you free. It goes through many prayers for yourself and your children. It guides you through an extensive list of the above to work through, and shows you how to renounce these things in your life so that Satan can't have a foothold in your life. But remember the steps to Freedom in Christ do not set you free. Christ is who sets you free, and what sets you free is your response to Him in repentance and faith. These steps are a tool to help you submit to God and resist the devil. You will discover the wonderful freedom Christ purchased for us on the cross. Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. This book- Spiritual Protection for your Children - is great if you have children but it is also great if you are single or married. Whatever your situation this book can only help you, your family and your children find their identity, freedom and security in Christ.

We are to "glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh" (Philippians 3:3). This means that an elderly person, a young child, anybody, we all have the same authority in the spiritual world. All we need to do is call upon Jesus. Because we have been given authority over Satan and all his demons, we have nothing to fear. We have a position in heaven next to Jesus. "We have nothing to fear but fear itself" We often eliminate all our fears except fear itself.

2 Chronicles 20:15
Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours but God's.

In ourselves we don't win any battles. Only through Jesus Christ are we victorious. Only through Jesus Christ are our enemies defeated. Only through Jesus Christ we are set free.

The truth of God's Word will set you free. Realizing that Christians don't have to live in fear if they are relying on Christ and the authority they have in Him will bring you great freedom.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives our fear...

John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

1 John 5:18
We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one does not touch him.

Galatians 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

We should not be surprised when we experience spiritual opposition for taking a public stand for Christ. Paul said "For we wanted to come to you - certainly I, Paul, did, again and again - but Satan stopped us." (1Thessalonians 2:18)

1 Peter 5:8,9
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Some of Satan's strategies are deception and fear. A lion roars to paralyze its prey in fear. Then he consumes it. Most of Satan's work is achieved by deceiving people who believe his lies. "The Father of lies" (John 8:44). The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (2 Cor 4:4)

We rejoice that some day Jesus will come again and we will live forever with him, a place without evil, without sin, without fear and without darkness. Praise the Lord!
