We are local citizens who have concerns about Antioch's future and its current problems that result from poor planning.
Citizens for a Better Antioch
Come to our next meeting on Wednesday, February 9th, 2005 at the Antioch Public Library  7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

If you have sat on highway 4,  then you know what we mean.
If you have several children in Antioch's overcrowded schools, then you know what we're concerned about.
If you have wondered why the city council and its city government chose to discuss a phantom Indian Casino instead of holding a scheduled public discussion of the 20 year General Plan for Antioch, then you know why we are concerned.

If you have heard our Mayor declare that Antioch will grow our way out of our growth problems, then you know why we are concerned.

In the Mayor's speech when the  General Plan was approved, the Mayor acknowledged Antioch's growth problems but took none of the blame. Instead he blamed the State of California, the County of Contra Costa, the neighboring communities, past Antioch city councils, and even blamed the people who moved into the houses that Antioch had built for them.

Mayor Don Freitas declared these new home owners to be "part of the problem", and in his next breath approves a plan for thousands of new homes. He apparently fails to see a connection there. But we do, don't we.
