In the 70's superproductions were back in action by hands of great directors like George Lucas (“Star Wars”) and Steven Spielberg (“3^rd degree encounters”). Creators like Coppolla, Scorsese and Lynch bet in an equally commercial style but more personalized and creative. It question everything and there is a way back with a great number of remakes.

In the 80's appears VCR and there is a raise of television channels what allow people to see cmovies without leabing their homes. The attempt to implement spectacularity to movies raises special effects. In this decade it appeared musculed heroes of violent movies and appeared some creators concerned with political questions. Drama  and comedy genres were innovated by creators like Woody Allen (comedy).

The 90's bring up a crisis of ideas to the american cinema which is inspirating in the comics heroes to create productions full of special effects and historical tv series are recriated in cinema. Genres like comedy, dramas, cartoons, fantasy and western are back to stay but  to them allie a very important ingredient, sexuality.

The cinema's century brought productions where there are even more virtual elements and interpeters and some productions that are computer fully made. For example the recents trilogies “Matrix” and “The Lord of the Rings”.  

The attempt to attract public through the spectacularity of  films in last decades created records  in movie gains  that are consecutively broken. Also in these decades the campaigns of publicitação of the films acquired greater importance being each time more elaborated in the attempt to acquire more audience. 

João César Monteiro, João Mário Grilo, Teresa Villaverde,  Pedro Costa e Manuel de Oliveira whose hard career until the present is names to relate in the panorama of the Portuguese cinema of the last decades.
