| Breeding chinchillas is a lot more responsibility than most people realize. It is not something that should be undertaken lightly. I highly recommend owning chinchillas for a few years before even considering breeding. Then you must do a lot of research into genetics and consult breeders for information. It can also get expensive, and can be heartbreaking. There are many good links on Chinchillas.org for more information about breeding. If you are considering breeding, PLEASE be honest with me. I can help by supplying you with information and the right chinchilla. Due to having a small herd, I do not have a large enough gene pool to sell breeding pairs, but I am willing to work with you and other local breeders to get you a good pair to start out with.
