Chapters One through Four are a philosophical response to the Lassez Faire attitudes described. Chapters Five through Ten are a discussion of concepts of Civility and the role of some of those concepts in subverting the process of discussion, and in the frequent manipulation of the participants. That second discussion is almost complete. A topic coming up, will be conceptions of the afterlife, and the notion of Spiritual Humanism. Some may find that this second section drags. But it is necessary, especially in a tradition that emphasizes the concept of an evolutionary progress toward a relation with Divinity, for us to discuss how to create an environment in which the clarity of thought needed for such progress to occur, will be promoted.

Without social criticism, there can be no progress. In fact, as there will always be someone with a new, unwholesome agenda, merely avoiding regression would be more than we could hope for. Regression that will impact on far more of one's life, than the 15 minutes or so it will take to read and think about an argument about what might cause it, and how it might be prevented.

Think of this sort of discussion as an investment in one's future, not of money, but of time and passion. Click here to return to the top of this page. This page is part of the Almond Jar, the homepage of the Shrine of the Sleeping Gods.
