The Explorer is the name of the truck that serves as the base of operations for the mobile element of the ministry. Based on a 1 ton pickup truck, the Explorer is to be extensively modified with enhanced capacity to serve as a mobile office, complete with a broad range of communications, navigation, and computer systems to support scheduled real-time interaction between itself and the Internet. Additional audio and visual recording technology along with the necessary editing equipment will allow the Explorer the capability of recording and producing multimedia directly from the field.

The physical modifications of the Explorer will replace the bed of the truck with a custom camper shell which will provide more enclosed space for the Explorer. Modification to the cab of the truck will allow access between the cab and the camper section of the truck. Housed in the camper section of the truck are the electronics and computer systems, audio and video editing gear, and the radio and communications gear.

The radio and the communications gear of the Explorer will include the following: Citizen's Band, Amateur Radio (HAM), Cellular, Satellite, and commercial 2-way radio equipment. Additional communications equipment may be added as needed, however this list should prove to cover most if not all communications needs of the Explorer.

Navigational equipment will include both vehicle mounted and handheld GPS systems. Computer augmentation of the navigation system should prove to further enhance the capabilities for the Explorer to travel through unusual areas or calculate its position to within 60 feet.

The audio and visual recording gear is comprised but not limited to the following equipment: 35mm SLR film camera, Digital camera, video camera (may be digital or conventional), multiple lenses and lens accessories for the camera equipment, tape and digital audio recorders, and supporting microphones, cables, battery and charger equipment.

Multiple computer systems will be used on the Explorer to help perform the over-all functions and goals of the mobile ministry. These computer systems will most likely be based on portable or "laptop" computers. Functions these computers will be used for include digital editing of audio and video material, logistics and planning, documentation and research, web site development and maintenance, navigation, and support roles.

Supporting equipment contained in the Explorer will also include battery and on-site electrical generation capabilities, first aid and survival equipment, and any other logistical and support equipment needed.

The Explorer will also be pulling a matching trailer equipped to support the living functions of the Explorer's personnel. This includes sleeping, food preparation, toiletry and hygiene, and supporting equipment and gear. Additional supporting equipment the Explorer will be using include enhanced lighting packages, security systems, and vehicle maintenance equipment.
