A Record of the “Suzirya’s” Songs

The ensemble “Suzirya” has been existing almost for one year at our school. We have done much. But we have still a lot of work. A new school year has began. We have listened to the school-girls of the 9-11th grades and chosen Tania Kolomiets for the vacant place. This hasn’t solved the problem because the teacher of Biology and Chemistry and the best performer of the ensemble Solomakha Svitlana Oleksandrivna leaves our school. But this doesn’t mean the end. To keep the memory of the primary staff of the ensemble (Natalia Abovian, Lyudmyla Kerbaliyeva, Olena Dubyna, Svitlana Solomakha) we have made records of the best songs in our performance.

We are obliged to the English teacher Tetiana Vladyslavivna Kyrychok for wording the texts of two songs. The music to one of the songs was written by Natalia Abovian. We also thank the employee of the cultural department Yurii Shtym for maintenance.

Natalia Abovian (the teacher of Music)

But all attempts were not successful. The new chairman of the Village Council O.V.Prokhorchuk was more active than his formers. And the school supported him. Teachers and students assisted the bricklayers and collected money among the inhabitants of the villages.

V.A. Kyrychok (the Principal of the school)

Our Summer Holidays

Last summer our father suggested that we should have a rest in the park. We took necessary things and left for the park. We took tents, mattress and other things in the department lease of instruments. This department is in the school-building. In this department people can take any things they need. When we came to the park we pitched our tents near the pond. On the first night it rained hard. In the morning our father got up, took the binocular and went to walk in the park. Suddenly he heard a barking of the dog. He went forward and saw that dog chasing the hare. The father said to the dog “Go away!”, and the dog stopped and ran away. The father has seen many interesting events yet.

In the park we bathed in the pond, fished and walked in the park. The first fishing was not successful, but the next was lucky. We learned to drive the car and observed the animals. We lived in the park for one week.

Kyrychok Andrii (the 8th grade),

In June I went to Truskavets together with my father. We had a rest in sanatorium. It is famous for its mineral waters. The town celebrated its 175 anniversary. There was an air-show and a concert. We could see the exhibition of flowers from the whole Ukraine.

The symbol of the resort is a goose. There were a lot of geese made of further, wood and paper. About ten people can be placed inside the goose.

I had got many friends. I exchange letters with them. I enjoyed my holidays

Nesen Oleksandr (the 9th grade)

The teachers and students have an opportunity to read poems, stories and translations of Ukrainian writers who live in Australia.

The Guests from Italia

From the 3rd of September to the 6th of September the Italians lived in our village. They are Ester and Jovanni Kattaneo. They had been in many countries and wanted to see Ukraine.

Ester and Jovanni started from their native town of Pontida to Milan by car. Then they took the plane and changed it in Budapest. From Kyiv to Chernihiv they travelled by bus. We had to meet them in Chernihiv at 9 o’clock. But our car broke near Mena. The district administration of Mena gave us its car. This way or another the Italians were in Chervony Plugatar at 5p.m. They don’t speak Ukrainian, Russian or English. The translator followed them only to Chernihiv. Then these duties came to me. I am said to speak Italian not bad.

On the 4th of September Ester and Jovanni visited our school, saw the students and the classrooms. Jovanni said that the school was very good. The Principal presented them with the photo “Thank you” and the Ukrainian embroidered towel. Jovanni and Ester promised to send their presents for school: some dictionaries for school library. MARCH

A Severe Test

Music has an important influence on people. It can calm us, give hopes, incense. It depends on the kind of music we choose. We prefer folk songs and the songs of Ukrainian composers of 70s-90s.

O. and the students of the 5th- 11th grades Solomakha Tania, Pryimak Bohdana, Prokhorchuk Nastia, Burda Lesia, Dubyna Olena, Kerbaliyeva Lyudmyla, Yaresko Maryna. We performed 16 songs during the Folk Arts Week, on the New Year's Party, on the 8th of March. But we've got the most pleasure from preparing and taking part in Amateur Arts Festival. It took place on March 20 in our school and in Talalayivka Recreation Centre on March 28. The students and teachers of our school performed songs dances and poems. The first sower brings happiness and wealth to the house. Only boys may be sowers. Masters of the houses give the boys sweets and money. The most active sowers among our boys were Bardachenko Olexii (2nd grade, 105 hryvnias) and Nesen Olexandr (8th grade, 55 hryvnias).
