ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Our beautiful two-story school building shown on this photograph was built in 1990. It is designed to accommodate 224 students.

Unfortunately, due to poor supply of heating materials and other economic problems the school could not maintain regular heating of the premises for a long time, until 1998. Because of this, during the winter time the teachers had to resort to providing classes at home, or in the available community buildings. Since 1998 the situation started to improve dramatically.

Favorable selection of the staff made it possible to create a group of highly qualified teachers. The school now employs teachers who graduated universities with the best marks only; two of them have received diplomas with honours. One of the teachers holds the title of "Distinguished Teacher of Ukraine"; three others are recognized by the "Excellence in Education of Ukraine" award.

After 1998 the school underwent major reconstruction of its heating system. At the same time many classrooms, laboratories, and the kitchen were reorganized. Now the school has all required classrooms, the library, wood- and metalworking workshops, dining room, convocation hall and the sports arena. All classrooms are equipped with the necessary teaching tools. The school even owns a tractor with a trailer. Our video equipment allows students to work with educational programs recorded on the regular VHS tapes in different formats, including NTSC.

In December of 2000 the phone line was installed. Since January 2001 the school is on the Internet.

All this leads to a noticeable and steady increase in the number of students who graduate the school with honours. For example, in 1999 alone as many as 40% of the students graduated with the Gold medals in recognition of their exceptional academic achievements.
