Easter Festival 2000
The Festival in 2000 was in Cambridge, 21-28 April 2000.

Invitations were sent by the following groups:
1. Friendship Group (mostly older people who have been involved in exchanges with other groups that no longer exchange, and wish to continue their contact with Heidelberg. The current Committee in Cambridge are members of this group.)
13 people accepted the invitation
2. PHAB
12 people accepted the invitation
3. CSD Brass Band (mixed age group) (first full exchange - hosted one person in 1998)
12 people accepted the invitation
4. Homerton Gymnastics Club
19 people accepted the invitation.
5. Tourist Guides
6 people accepted the invitation
6. Greens
An invitation was issued for up to six guests

Two members of the Stadtjugendring accompanied the groups: Uwe Morgenstern (chairman of the Stadtjugendring), and Marcus Zegowitz (who works under Christine Siegfried, Chairman of the Partnership Committee). Christine Siegfried also came as a member of the Friendship Group.

The Cambridge Gliding Club also sent an invitation, but the Heidelberg gliders found that the dates for the Exchange in 2000 clashed, and they regretfully declined the invitation.

Theme for Easter Festival 2000

The Theme for the Festival week was

Europe at the Millennium - Shared Past and Shared Future

By considering the past, and the way in which the different parts of Europe had influenced each other, consideration was given to the future of Europe and the Community.

Participants received worksheets, and suggestions for discussion topics, at the Opening Ceremony. Token examples of the influence of the rest on Europe on England, and Cambridge were included, with lists of objects that "mark" such influences. Maps of Europe at approximately 1000 year intervals, were also provided.

Participants, during the week, discussed their expectations of the next 100 (or 1000!) years. Results had to be returned by mid-day 27 April 2000. They were reported on at the Gala evening
