The above statistics showed that Klinsmann liked to ask his team to shoot although Germany's shot accuarcy is not high. This was proved to be a good strategy because Germany's fondness of shooting compensated their weakness in low shot accuarcy and finally Germany managed to create a lot of shots on goal and score the most goals among the 32 teams.

Moreover, Germany's fondness often earned them the advantage of early goal. Four out of 14 goals scored by Germany were scored within the first 15 minutes of the game. In the three games in which Germany could score an early goal, it was able to win the match. These early goals might be intended by Klinsmann as his team was young and the confidence of a young team might drop easily during the match, early goal could help building up the team's confidence during the match.

Besides, Klinsmann preferred to use long-ball and crosses to create scoring chances. This might be due to the lack of creativity in Germany's midfield.

Statistics also showed that Germany was fond of tackling because Germany was the team with the second most tackles committed. This was consistent with Klinsmann's defensive philosophy as Klinsmann once said: "the strikers also have a role to play in defence". In fact, Klose and Podolski were the team leader in terms of fouls committed.

Although Germany committed many tackles, they were a clean team. It was the only team in the semi-finals which could stay away from red card. This showed that German players were not rash in tackling and could control their temper.

As to its defence, Germany had shown improvement from its sloppy defence in the World Cup opening against Costa Rica as the four goals conceded after the match against Costa Rcia were not caused by defensive mistake. Furthermore, Ballack's participation in defence also added strength and reliability to the German defence.

Lastly, Germany's substitues also played a vital role in the tournament because the winning goal against Poland (scored by Neuville, who was a substitute, from a cross from Odonkor, who was also a substitute) and the equalizer against Argentina (scored by Klose from a header pass from Borowski, who was a substitute) were created by substitutes. Kehl and Kahn, who were not Klinsmann's first choice, also played well when they were given the chance to play in the starting lineup.
