Chinese Bilingual Program at Pierce
Original papercut made by Yaping Tang
Chinese Bilingual Program is one of the Transitional Bilingual Education Programs in Brookline Public Schools. The program is at Pierce School, which is located in the heart of Brookline Village. Pierce School's population reflects the diverse community living in the Brookline Village area and the school enjoys a strong partnership with parents and citizens. Chinese Bilingual Program provides instructional support to students who speak Chinese and are not yet proficient in English. It offers native language academic support as well as ESL (English as a second language) instruction and facilitates parent involvement in the school. These students are placed in regular classes and receive bilingual support either within the class or on a resource room pull-out arrangement. The amount of integration and bilingual support varies according to each child's needs and level of English language proficiency. Close collaboration between bilingual staff and classroom teachers helps ensure effective instruction. Simplified Chinese Version:
