Greetings from Children of Tien-Shan in Balykchy, Kyrgyz Republic. We are continuing to stay busy working with our children and families as winter quickly approaches. |

On November 17, 2008, we started providing HIV/AIDS trainings at local schools for youth in the community. There were 16 teenagers who participated in the training and received new knowledge about HIV/AIDS. They learned new things about the disease such as the window period for testing, ways is it transmitted, and global statistics. They also learned about testing for HIV/AIDS, their own rights, and how to protect themselves from infection. The youth who participated expressed a desire to share what they learned with their family and friends. The training was a success and we hope to continue the trainings to youth in the community through December. |
