List of words you may encounter but do not know the exact meaning.

Chobits: A legendary persocon series; it works without OS. It has a mind of its own, very much like a living thing.

OS: Opearting System. Much like what we need to get our Windows up and working.

Persocon: Formed from the words "personal" and "computer", a persocon has multi-purpose functions ("Like a female Doraemon!" - Motosuwa Hideki from Chobits Book 1, Chapter 1) such as house-keeping, data entry, internet connection, telephone, and even *gasp* sexual pleasure. They make good company for humans, but as Yumi pointed out, the gap between humans widens.

Manga: Comics in Japanese

Mangaka: Comic artist in Japanese

Shoujo: Young lady. Shoujo manga means comics read mostly by elementary and/or high school girls. However, adults, boys and men also read them.
