Death Metal Three way split in the works. Planning to do a couple split 7 inch records with Varant Majarian and some other local hardcore bands. Contemplating a San Fernando Valley Punk/hardcore/metal compilation: 2 songs per band, $60 a band gets you 50 CD's etc. More on that later.......

We're looking to put out a few new things this next year so if you think you've got what it takes then by all means send us something, be sure to mention that you're looking for a release otherwise we'll assume that you want a review in the Zine.

We have a three way split ep coming out with Varant Majarian, The Subjects and Abandon All Hope. Varant Majarian belt out fast paced old school hardcore, the Subjects churn out some excellent street punk/Oi!, and Abandon All Hope is a melodic hardcore outfit from New Mexico. It's going to be in a cool package that gives each band their own cover all on one piece of paper! Never seen anything like it, so you know where you saw it first. This project should be out by the end of December.

My Apologies for all the bands from Spain, Puerto Rico, & Russia who sent me stuff to distro. I've been laggin' on getting them on the site but most  of it is up there except for the Russian stuff, I still need to listen to it before I can put it up on the site. Anyway, I'm taking all this cool stuff to shows and selling it a little at a time. Glad to be of service.

We've got two really cool three-way split ep's that should be done before the end of the year (sooner we hope) One will be some good hardcore and thrash and the other will be crusty/death metal. The packaging will be really different for these releases, having a separate cover for each band all on one sheet of paper.

CHR Zine #6 will be out by the end of the week. We're finally getting the hang of windows and what we can do with our printer so we've managed to really stuff this issue with content. You may notice some more ads, but we're not going to compromise our content for ads. Even though Issue #1 had no real ads, it probably had less content than the latest issue. I've been looking at other free punk Zines out there and they are mostly a bunch of ads with barely literate, minimal content. We hope to set ourselves apart by focusing on content, not ads.

2/18                                                                                                    CHR 007: Clubbing Seals for Fun and Profit (mostly fun) will be out Feb 20th. This is a split with two bands: Obscene Gesture and Varant Majarian. Obscene Gesture draws upon old school hardcore for their influences and belt out 7 proficient, angry tunes on this split. Varant Majarian has 14 thrash tunes to rough up the mix on the back end of this CD. We're really excited about this release as it's been a while because we've been focusing on the Zine. So now it's time to put out some records and this one is the first of a line of new stuff we're developing that will be out in 2003.

We're planning to do another comp as well, check the projects page for more details on that one.

Chicken-Head Records is looking to grab up stuff from other small labels. If you're band put something out and it's sitting around in boxes or you broke up and now have a mess of merch, we may be interested in taking it off your hands. I'd like you to send me an e-mail telling me what you got and then I'd like to give it a listen. We'd only be willing to pay pennies on the dollar but if you've got 300 7" sitting around, why not make a few bucks? We'll then add them to our catalog and try to get them out there at shows and what not. We work hard to try and move stuff, so it's better than using them as coasters right?
